Just shamelessly sharing the latest photos/videos of my spinel rings :)

Heres my unheated Burma pink sapphire making her appearance. Her color is perfection, but lacks the brilliance/sharpness of my spinels

That's a classic demo. The sharp flashes of the spinel vs the softer glow of the pink sapphire. Of course, they are both fabulous stones.

And yes, I am totally that weirdo that's taking videos of my rings on a nature trail.

No, not weird. Just recognizing the best light. You have an amazing eye for this.

Well I would have trouble looking at the nature trail with those on! :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:
I only saw the flowers on my hand, what nature?:oops2::lol-2:

There has been some diss on spinels lately so hopefully this thread elevates its reputation a little lol. They are a little more shifty than my sapphire (never unattractive though), but yeah your description of the performance difference is spot on. It's more personal preference I guess. The sapphire can only dream of doing this:P2:

Beautiful and not weird at all. Nature trails have some of the best lighting! They are all stunning.

Thank you! :kiss2: It seriously does, would've loved to see my new diamond ring in that lighting but too bad I sent it back for resizing and some other fixes. Next time!

And I shamelessly drool every time!!! I still can't decide which I love best (because I adore them all). If I had to choose (for when you gift one or more to me), I'm going with the bottom as my favorite stone and the top as my favorite design. Remind me about the spinel carat weights from top to bottom, please? I think you and I have very similar tastes, BTW.

Thank you so much!! :kiss2::P2

The top long cushion ring is 2.03ct mansin vivid pink but faces up small for its weight as it's cut deep. It's the perfect shade of hot pink but not bright or in your face enough to be jedi in my book.

Middle oval (or actually slightly egg shaped) is 1.35ct namya jedi that shifts between reddish pink/pinkish red depending on lighting. Closest to trade ideal in color I believe, and it was the most expensive price per ct. It glows insane in the sun that it's other worldly. It was recut by Boyd Fox from 1.45ct, is now brighter, has better performance in direct lighting and less of the dreaded half and half shadowing that plagues elongated stones.

Bottom square cushion is 1.08ct also namya neon pink jedi. I'd say this one is also probably my personal favorite! The color is awesome but so is the performance and light play. Also blinding in the sun. I originally bought it as a windowed 1.18ct and the recut also by Boyd on it was totally magical that even he sang it's praises when he normally uses as less words as possible in his emails lol! The ring is a reset by DK, and I know the setting is a little unorthodox but I absolutely love it to pieces! I struggle with setting ideas for square cushion stones as they often look too squarish to me no matter how many diamonds there are, which is not my favorite shape. Unfortunately for me at least, some of the best colored stones color and performance wise are in this shape:lol-2:

I agree our tastes are very similar, I drool over every single time you have a new acquisition and reading your threads are an absolute blast for me!:kiss2:

You can absolutely see the red tones in the 1.35ct. namya, which makes it rather special. It's dazzling (they all are) and my second favorite. But they each have very different personalities, IMO, which makes them such a great collection. I find the truer pinks to have a greater capacity for neon saturation over reds. I think it's just the nature of the beast. And your 1.08ct seems to prove that! I think it burned my retina.

Yeah they are all similar but different at the same time! I did also read that pinks can be more neon than reds, but in my case I'd say the 1.35 and 1.08 are similar neon wise in person, but the 1.35 has a very slightly deeper tone which in certain lighting can make it look subtly more saturated vs the brighter 1.08. All 3 burn my retina on a regular basis but I enjoy the pain:lol-2:

How would you describe the color difference between a pink sapphire and a pink spinel? I love my pink sapphire more than my rubies and I've never seen a spinel in real life. TIA!

There are definitely overlapses in color, but I've personally found spinels in general to be slightly warmer comparing to pink sapphires, which commonly has purple modifier.

I took these videos under daylight LEDs. The sapphire loves the camera, but in person the 2 jedis are brighter. The half and half shadowing is also exaggerated on the long cushion spinel.
