I have 2 large JXR amethysts for sale here. Both of these gems were precision cut by George Ellis from Georgia and either would make an awesome pendant. Both have slight zoning in them as have all of the other JXR's I have owned, but face-up are absolutely beautiful and will look even better when set. These are the last two in my collection of large JXR amethysts and are the best quality I have had. I've looked at both of these through a jeweler's loupe and I can't see any flaws in either gem. I hate to let either of them go, but it's time to let someone else enjoy them.

Stone A, on the left, is a 7+ ct. scissor cut JXR and is the gem in my avatar. It's a great gem and has been my personal favorite since the day I got it in my hands. It has a medium royal purple along with a medium strong blue component. I think this one will stand out in any gem collection, it's that good. Asking $950.

Stone B, on the right, is a 11 ct. barion cushion cut JXR. This one is almost identical to the 13ct cushion I sold on here before, the difference being this one is slightly smaller, but has better clarity. This stone has been the absolute hardest gem I have ever tried to photograph and is much, much better in person than the photos I have been able to take of it. It to is a medium royal purple and has the strongest blue flash I have ever seen in a JXR. In person, it is a slightly lighter in shade than the photo. Asking $1250.

If you are interested in one or both, let me know on this thread and I can list them on an online auction site. I really don't want to pay to list these up unless someone is seriously interested in purchasing one or both. Thank you for taking a look!

For reference:

The first photo I took of these stones appears in this thread. The cushion (stone B) is the one on the right and the scissor cut (stone A) is in the middle.

The large cushion on the left of that photo was sold and was finished into a pendant in this thread. The two could pass as twins in person.

Additional photos of both of these are on George Ellis' website as well.
If asked, I may be able to put up an online video of the gems as well.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a set of calipers to put on it, but I measured it with a wooden ruler just to get a close approximation. It's very, very close to 14 mm x 10mm.

there are two scissor cuts here: http://www.faceting.biz/faceting_photo_gallery/default.html
is it the one in the 2nd row?

and a guesstimate re dimensions on stone B who remains nameless?

My scissor cut for sale here (A) is in the bottom row of the JXR section, third from the right.

The cushion cut for sale here (B) is right next to it on George's site. It's hard to measure the width on it because the sides are not completely square, but it is very close to 14mm x 14mm. Thanks again for your interest!!

wow! they're both huge!
do you by any chance participate on "the other" forum? if so, perhaps we could chat there?
if not, well, know i'm thinking about this.

and why is the scissor cut the one nearest and dearest to your heart?

I have been wanting an amy for some time..............and I did purchase a JXR at one time but returned it because it just didn't perform. however, I don't think it matched either of yours in quality.....and certainly not in size.

sorry for all the questions.

The "other forum"...hmmmm...I did list some stones on a another website for gems....I have the same user name there...

As to why this scissor is my favorite, I think it's because of a couple of things. First, it has the magical blue flash that I love. Secondly, it has big, chunky facets on the back that I really like as well. Face up, it is one of the best I have ever seen in person. And yes, these are bigger than the normal gemstones from there. You don't see too many JXR's to begin with, but you definitely don't see ones this size and this good of clarity.

I've also made a video of the two and uploaded it to Youtube. If you search for "Haywood JXR" you should find it. Thanks again!!!

ps, don't worry about asking too many questions :twirl:

no, it didn't come up at youtube......sigh.

I promise you it is on Youtube. They may not have indexed it where it will pop up on a search though.

it is a good video! finally got to it.
while I think it is worth it, it is more than I want to spend right now.
sigh.
and, honestly, it would face up larger than my spess! and I don't want to upstage her!
thanks for your patience and I hope a pricescoper snags it and puts me out of my misery.

I sure hope a PS member grabs it too :appl: And sometimes bigger isn't always a end-all for upstaging. My wife's wedding ring with her .7ct Solasfera can really outshine a lot of bigger rings :naughty:

I may have a bit of wiggle room on the price, but not a whole lot. Either way, I definitely appreciate you taking the time to be interested!

I'll drop the price to $800 and $1000, respectively, if anyone might be interested. Thanks!

Thought I would give this one last chance before I put them back in the display cabinet...

I'll entertain reasonable offers on either stone...
