What do you find the most effective way of solving the knuckle problem in terms of ring design? In other words, what kind of ring do you think looks best on fingers with large knuckles?

I find it that thin shanks are not the best sollution, unless you like wearing rings a bit loose and don''t mind them rolling around and leaning on the side. I also think designs without any stones on the shank (like solitaires) don''t hide this "flaw" and make it more obvious, but small stones (melee) on the shank are no good either IMO, cause they can make the shank seem bulky. I like designs where the shank narrows towards the sides, especially three stone rings, cause at least they provide you with an excuse why the ring doesen''t fit precisely - people usually don''t mind if width of three stones together is not exactly the same as that of the finger. I think wider shanks are better at hidding this problem, but they''re not as comfortable to wear unfortunatelly.

Any opinions? Hand shots maybe?

Hello,

I don''t know about the style part of your question, but I wanted to tell you about sizing bars/balls if you haven''t heard of them. They solve that "rolling around" problem you mentioned. I have them on my engagement ring, and I love them! Sorry I don''t have a picture, though, but if you search for sizing bars or sizing balls on Pricescope, I''m sure you''ll find some info.

Sizing bars are like little cubes they put on the inside of the band to keep it from flipping around and around your finger. Sizing balls are little spheres. I have rings with both, and oddly enough I find the bars to be the most comfortable, and they grip better. One thing to watch for if you get these... some jewelers like to put them really close together, which doesn''t work well... You really want them at the 10 and 2 positions to work best.

Hope this was helpful--Good luck! :)

Thanks for the info, I actually heard of these and other sollutions to the sizing problem, but I''m not overly concerned about that since there are many mechanisms that can be employed. I was just wondering what style/design people prefer when it comes to hiding the extra space between the ring and the finger. To make things worse, I''m a guy, so I really find it unatractive when ring doesen''t fit well and dances around the finger
