And please blame the media for not having required qualifications for a job. Or, God forbid, maybe there was special treatment involved? Nah ... who would check MY educational credentials when I apply for a job. Nobody. For sure.

* using protection when having underage sex
* not parading your teen''s baby daddy on national television for your own bizarre agenda

In the real world it is very common to waive requirements for intern and apprentice positions.
I have done it myself and sat on selection boards that have done it.
It is a bunch of noise about nothing and it is a dirty politics hit job.

We even waived a gpa requirement for a scholarship.. oh no!!
The young man was a very smart kid with an unfortunate circumstance.
His grades were year 1 all A, 2 all A ,3 all c except one b, 4 all A.
During his 3rd year his parents divorced and he switched schools 4 times during a nasty court battle.
His letter that was sent with the application got him the scholarship because he explained what happened then took responsibility for it and told how hard he worked to catch up and get all As the 4th year in tough classes.
One of his teachers hand delivered his application and asked we consider him.
Was that wrong? Technically maybe but it was the right thing to do.

I truly don''t follow such things because I''ve got better things to do generally. But OMG! If Palin wanted to stay in the news, this can''t be the way she''d like to do it. That whole family situation sounds like it''d be more appropriate to Jerry Springer. Daughter from a religious home ignores everything she''s taught, and get''s knocked-up by a highschool dropout. Future son-in-law doesn''t have a highschool diploma. The father, who works for the company that gave future Palin SIL a job, is apparently - in spite of being an engineer, UNAWARE of the rules regarding electrical apprenticships AND doesn''t know HIMSELF that his son doesn''t have a DIPLOMA, nor does the soon-to-be FIL. (But hey, neither one of them had anything to do with him getting the job...it''s just a coincidence.) And mother of future SIL is charged with 6 (SIX) felony counts of selling oxycontin. So much for the ethics of BOTH families, eh?

And either their personnel department at that company was zonked on the oxycontin sold to them by the boy''s mom (in which case THEY all need to be fired too), OR he LIED on the application that none of US has ever NOT been required to fill out...you know...the one that asks all about your educational level? Yeah, that one... In that case, the personnel department didn''t check anything, in which case they all still need to be fired.

Apparently the SP wants to remain in the public consciousness and eye, while not being held to any standard. Makes no sense to me.

I don''t disagree with what you are saying and employers do have some leeway (which is fine by me) ... but if everything was so easily explainable - why did the kid quit and his employer not stand up for him if he qualified without the formal credentials???? An quick statement would have made it all go away very fast.

because it was a no-win situation and it would have not went away.
They would have just been accused of waiving it because of Sarah no matter what the truth was.
