For the ladies, your opinion woud greatly be appreciated...

1.) If your BF could not decide between two settings, would you prefer.... that he let you pick and ensure that you have the ring that YOU want? or have him make the call and risk that he picked the ''other'' one?

2.) I have a pilot license and access to a plane. One proposal idea was to write "will u marry me?" on the ground, then take her up in the plane and fly over it. Do you think that it is too much about me? Is this romantic? Cheesy? please help

Regards,
DS

1. I'd definitely want to pick myself, but I'm quite picky and would want to make sure that I was happy with it, since I'm going to wear it forever.

2. I'm not sure. I think it's a sweet idea, but me personally, if I was your woman, I think I'd want to be able to hug and kiss and see your face and all that jazz when you proposed, so although I think it's a cool idea, in practice I might feel rather impatient or weird during the time between when I read the message and when I could see the look in your eyes when you ask me. It's not that it's 'your thing' that makes it less personal, but that if you're flying the plane, you won't be able to hug me or kiss me or looking at me hopefully when you ask me to marry you. Maybe an idea is to write something like "(Her name), I love you so much" and have her get excited but actually do the official proposal face-to-face after you land at some point?

Dwight, all women are different, so take our answers with a grain of salt. But I would say:
1) Ask. Unless you know that she wants no input whatsoever and to be completely surprised, it''s a very good idea to find out what she likes and dislikes before spending a significant amount of money.

2) I think that would be adorable! Does she like flying with you? If she''s afraid of heights or something, I''d say no...but as long as it''s something she would appreciate, that sounds like such a fun idea!

Good luck!

1) I would like to pick myself.
2) My FI has his pilot''s license too, and I think if he had had it at the time and done that proposal, it would''ve been so sweet! :D I think it''s a great idea!

Oh, Dwight. Bless you for putting so much into this proposal.

1) I would want to choose. But as long as you''ve gotten it narrowed down to 2, is it going to make a huge difference at this point? You could always post both of them here and let the LIW decide which one.

2) Since you asked, I do think it''s a little cheesy, but also romantic. Why not fly her somewhere and have dinner or a picnic or something when you get there?

I agree that you should take all comments with a grain... or ten... of salt. We tend to vary widely in our preferences on this board. Now... on to your questions.

1. I would want to pick, but I am very picky and helped pick my future engagement ring. However if she''s been in the dark this long she may prefer it to stay that way? I''m not sure with the little information that I have.

2. I like the plane idea. I think though that it might be better if you could get someone else to fly you two. Then you could actually turn to her and ask... without worrying about flying the plane into the ground in your excitement/nervousness.

It is obvious that you''re putting a lot of thought into this so rest assured. I''m sure that she will love whatever you end up doing purely because 1, she loves you, and 2. you''ve put so much time and effort into making her the happiest she can be.

Good luck!

1. i agree with the other responses. ask her unless she''s totally into being surprised. i picked out my setting because i''m very picky and wanted to make sure i was 100% happy with my ring.

2. what a cool idea. i hope she likes flying though.

good luck!!!
