She should describe the GIA information such as table, depth, crown and pavilion angles and lgf

Would she separate the diamond out of the band?

Most of the time the way resale works is you try to get money for the diamond and you wind up giving the setting for free, or sell it separately.

She is asking more for it than one can get a GIA certified diamond for at blue Nile. B2C would be less expensive than blue Nile.

Good luck to her. I just wanted to give her some tips. If she wants to sell it, she needs to get in the right price range for it.

Does she have any options to trade it in toward a new ring.?
 
Yes, as Whitewave points out, its really hard to sell a “preloved” engagement ring. People are generally “funny” about pre loved engagement rings, even those sold for upgrades. I think it’s easier to sell the diamond loose, it could be then used for a pendant or matched with a similar for a lovely pair of earrings.
I’d consider set another gem into the setting and sell that or just sell the setting.
And the pricing needs to be about 60% of retail price for a quicker sale.
eBay is another selling option but the fees are around 14% of price and care needs to be taken with buyers.
Best option, if available, is a decent trade in with the vendor of the next ring.
