And I

it more than I did in the store.

First, the funny story. I ordered my dress from Pearl''s Place (there''s a previous thread about the deal I got) back in late October, and at the time they told me to expect it in 3 months. I had heard stories that sometimes they come early, so as soon as I came back from holiday break I started watching the front door extra carefully for UPS notes. Well, last week I ordered a bunch of supplies from Joann.com for making my invitations. They shipped my order by UPS with a scheduled arrival of today, Monday. Well, yesterday morning I discovered that I had just missed a call and had a new voicemail. The message was a mostly cut-off automated call from UPS saying I had a package arriving the next day and that it would require a signature. I couldn''t access the tracking number info because it was a message, not the live call. A little voice in my head said "ooooh, I wonder if it''s the dress!!!", but I didn''t want to get my hopes up and assured myself it was probably just the Joann order. It seemed funny to me that Joann would require a signature, but I shrugged it off since it was otherwise a really strange coincidence that both would be delivered the same day.

Well, I worked from home today to intercept the package, and was VERY excited to see the UPS man at the door with not one, but THREE, packages. One was the joann order, one was something for my FI, and the third was my dress.

So, of course the first thing I did, after squealing like a little girl the second the door closed behind me, was grab the vacuum to make the living room dress-safe. I grabbed my camera and its little tripod, a pair of heels, and wasted no time trying it on. It''s way too big in the bust, and it needs to be hemmed slightly, but otherwise it fits like a glove.

Thanks for looking, ladies! Oh, and a round of applause for anyone who actually read all that before skipping straight to the photos...

ROTFL about grabbing the vacuum first!

The dress looks great on you even befor alterations! Congratulations!

BTW, how did you manage to zip/unzip by yourself? I''m impressed!!

Thanks October and CJ! CJ, I was even more sure about the dress when I saw my face in the photos!

Haha! Yeah, I basically got myself in and out of most of the dresses I tried on, or at least the zipper-only ones. I guess my arms are flexible? This one has nothing but a zipper and a hook at the top. I couldn''t get the hook myself, which is why it''s gapping a little at the top of the zipper.

You look amazing!!! And I too am impressed that you were able to zip it yourself!

The fit of that dress on you is amazing! Congrats on your purchase.

Ladyciel - your dress looks amazing!! How exciting!

I ordered my dress through Pearl''s place too and before I read your thread I thought that they would call me before they shipped, but I guess not. So I just called and my dress will be here at the beginning of February most likely! I''m kinda sad though because I''m having it shipped to my parents (location of the wedding) cause I am never home to sign for it here, so I won''t get the thrill of trying it on right away.

Gorgeous dress, Ladyciel!!!!

I went back and read about the deal you got, and it was amazing!!!! Man, I wish I had known about Pearl''s Place and Bride Power when I was planning my shotgun wedding. I think I would have been so much happier if I had known about those options.

WOW!

I love, love, love your dress and it looks beautiful on you!

Thanks so much, ladies! All the good feedback is really assuring me that I made a great choice.

Basil, I'm sorry you won't get to try your dress on right away! I wasn't sure if they would call me or not, but my hunch was they wouldn't. However, it does seem like they use the option UPS offers to have an automated call give you a heads up the day before delivery. At least if you get that call you can let your parents know so somebody can be home to sign for it. According to the guy who answers email, they ALWAYS require a signature for delivery (thank goodness!).

For anyone curious about how Pearl's Place handles their dress sales, here's a rundown based on my experience. All quotes and orders are done over the phone, and you need to know the designer and style number for the dress you want. You should also know what size to order. You give them your credit card info, phone number and mailing address, and they give you an estimated date of delivery. It was a few days before my credit card was charged, and I received a copy of the order receipt by mail within a week or so. I was told to allow 3 months for delivery of my Angelina Faccenda gown when I ordered in on 10/23. I received it via UPS on 1/7. So, it came in before schedule, even with all the holidays. Of course, delivery probably depends on the dress manufacturers, but at the very least Pearl Place's estimate was fair. As I said above, I received an automated message from UPS notifying me a package would be delivered the next day requiring a signature. Inside the large cardboard box, my dress was packaged on a hanger, wrapped in tissue paper, and placed inside a transparent plastic dress bag similar to what you get from a department store when you buy a dress or suit (just a little heavier plastic). It came with the matching shawl as advertised by the designer, as well as all tags and extra beads. It is without a doubt a brand new dress, never touched before. I think the tissue paper was placed by the factory, as it was inside the plastic bag which is stamped with the designer's name. I had to order a more substantial dress bag so I can hang it up without fear of the plastic ripping or my FI being able to see the dress inside, but I was able to find one on ebay for cheap. Overall my experience with Pearl's Place was great. They aren't big on a lot of chitchat or phone calls, but they delivered my dress exactly as promised and for half the price of the bridal salon.

Ok, I''m back, with just one more pic to share! My MOH came over today to see my dress and she helped me get a good photo of the train.
