Awhile ago I posted about changing from my PC to a laptop. The PC is at least 5 years old and runs into glitches on a regular basis. Not only that, but I''m using the dining room table for my set-up. We recently gave the dining room a facelift ($$) so would like it to be free of PC clutter.
There''s nowhere else I can put it for various reasons.

DH and I went looking at laptops twice in the past couple of weeks and learned a lot about the requirements we need. Great, BUT the font size even on a 17" screen is too small for my dimming eyesight. The SA at both stores told us the same story: I can set it to the size I need and every time I log in, the chosen size will be kept. This sounds perfect; however neither SA was able to do it. On the second login, the size returned to the default which is too small.

Does anyone know of a laptop that will remember my font size; I''m the only user, if that makes a difference?

I just bought a laptop here a couple of months ago and I have not noticed a font size difference between the laptop and my normal computer, but I think thereis a way to change it thru the menu, but I am unsure how, good luck.

I know that there''s probably a way to change the font size, but I wonder whether I''d have to keep changing it every time I logged in.

I don''t know if this is what you are asking but go up to Page at the top and then zoom and click the amount you want to zoom in.

Right click on the desktop
click on appearance
go down to font size and change to either large or extra large

I don''t have the laptop yet, and don''t intend to buy one until I''m assured that I won''t have to adjust the font size every time I want to use the darn thing.

I''m not sure I''m making the point I want to, but that''s the only way I know how to explain it.

. Okay, one more try....

If anyone here has a laptop, when you turn it on and log in, that will be your font size, right? I''m trying to ask whether you can make your font size larger, then log off. When you log in next, has the font size remained larger or has it returned to its default size?

Is that any clearer?

(Tough to believe that I once explained scansion of a Shakespearean play to 17 year olds...and they understood judging by the test results.

You need to reboot once you change it just logging off and back on wont save the setting.
A million thank-yous to all who are trying to help. As long as it''s do-able, I will figure it out.

My hesitation in purchasing cost me a good deal ( I think) on an HP. I''m not too worried, though, because I can wait for another Future Shop special.

your welcome

The penny finally dropped for me during the night. It takes awhile, obviously. I think I''ve got it now!

I have to reboot every time in order to change the font size.

Yesterday, I was in a fog: My DH''s best friend for the past 50 years told us he has Lymphoma. It was diagnosed last Tuesday (his birthday) and he begins chemo this coming Tuesday. Needless to add, but I will anyway: We are in shock!

sorry too hear about your DH''s friend prayers outgoing.

You just have too do a full reboot everytime you change it, after that it will stay the same on just a logoff.

Thanks, strm, for the prayers first of all, and also for the better news on the re-booting. Now, I''ll start my laptop search again.
