I am about to tear my hair out over choosing some centerpieces!!! Basically, I am envisioning a large (i.e. 20-24 inches tall) clear cylinder vase (though square would be ok, too - and even those eiffel tower things). I want to fill it with water, with some sort of LED light at the bottom, and some sort of fake flower/ribbon/fiberoptic cascading outward from the top.

Well, I''m sort of stuck at phase one here, and getting incredibly frustrated! I have 20 tables to do this for. So, even if a vase is only $10, that''s $200 right there (=not worth it to me.) And of course there''s the issue, what do I do with 20 freaking vases after the wedding?

So far, ebay doesn''t have any good deals on tall vases. I''ve checked a million craft places online. Even the rental co''s run about $15 per vase. Am I crazy here? I DID find 7-inch vases for only $1.00 on a dollar store website. I''m not looking for super high quality here, either. The centerpieces are one area where not only did we only allocate a few hundred bucks of the budget, but I don''t even WANT them to be super fancy and definitely no real flowers.

Anyone know of a good place to find some inexpensive tall vases?! Thanks for your help!!

I looked for the same thing, but went another direction. Let me look up a few places...

Not exactly cheap...but you might find a few more just by googling.

Do you have an Ikea near you? I bet they would have cheap ones.

Saveoncrafts.com

Go there.

Go to florist supplies, then to vases, then to tall vases.

20'' Eiffel Tower vases- 12 for $5.99 each.

The rounded, thick, non-Eiffel Tower vases are far more costly, but also a better quality, I''m sure.

After the wedding you can A) Beg guests to take ''em home :) or B) Sell them on e-bay or craigslist

have you tried Michaels?

I would be asking guests to take them home- everyone loves a centerpiece

Craigslist maybe. Or other bridal forums that have a "for sale" section. Did you check all rental companies? Or just the one your venue uses? I live in a low-cost area, but we were able to rent ours for $1 each.

Thank you everyone! This gives me some more ideas. I will keep searching high and low! I am a woman of persistence - I WILL find these in a price that I like

Jo-Ann Fabrics used to have ones that were super-cheap. Check there if you have any near you (and you haven''t checked already).

Check Michael''s if they are in your area. They usually have a 40% coupon on their website, www.michaels.com, and their prices are reasonable to begin with.

I just saw some at Target on clearance from $32 down to $6. They were pretty thick and probably 2 - 2/12 feet tall. They were in the Smith and Hawken section.

But then you have to buy them 1 at a time and hope they don''t stop carrying them.

20" cylinder for $7.95

20" eiffel ffor $4.98

I''m planning to sell mine after the wedding...assuming anyone wants them. Or I might try and return them to BBB. Shhhhh!

My sister bought all mine at a yard sale for about $10 - There are about 20 clear cylinder vases. If you have the time and patience you can find good deals at yard sales. I don''t love going to them myself - but I''m sure glad my sis does!

Craigslist is a good option.

sometimes pilsner glasses can work well...

I''ve always had good luck finding cheap glass vases at craft stores. We''re talking a couple dollars at most. Try Michael''s, Jo-Ann, Hobby Lobby (if you have them in your area, they''re VERY cheap on vases) or whatever chain you have local to you.

Did you try dollar stores in person? I''ve seen some nice vases at dollar stores for cheap.
