Hi,

I have never read Leon Meges website before. You can certainly tell he is not that into diamonds. He seems to be saying that women should look to colored stones rather than diamonds for an engagement ring. This is how women can be different and have something rare and valuable. But, and here's the kicker, you should buy a commercial grade stone for an engagement ring for it has a good chance of being damaged. Rubies and Sapphires that are fine grades should not be worn everyday, so shouldn't be in an engagement ring. But they are the stones to buy for value. What an interesting read by someone who dares to be different. Yes, I know how difficult he can be , but his thinking is out of the box. Does he have a Point?

He has a gorgeous blue cabachon for 2800 dollars. If its that color, I think someone should buy it. Make an offer. Do the rest of you think its beautiful.?

Annette

I can't link, so hopefully my helper, lovedog will come along. Thanks Lovedogs

Leon is certainly a unique character. He used to call a 1 ct diamond small and wasn't interested in setting small diamonds. I would think that the owner of a 10 ct top notch untreated blue sapphire would be wealthy enough to not be doing much with their hands, and thus place the stone at very low risk for damage.

Based on this one photo it looks stunning and it seems worth it making an offer. I would want to see more pics though.
Leon works quite often with color stones and it gives his designs a new and fresh look. If you are very careful with your hands I love the idea of using Color stones as e-rings instead of diamonds.

I am not too happy with the lack of treatment information for the stone, though.

FYI for those who aren't aware of this:
Unless LM has changed his (unwritten) policy from several months ago, purchases made at less than his "list price" (i.e., he accepts your lower offer) are final sales. No returns accepted, no refunds given. So you're rolling the dice... unless you are first able to view it in person at his NYC office.

This! Without know the treatment, I have no idea what would be a fair price for the cabochon.

Hi,

Good responses for the readers of this forum. You can also ask him for a lab report from AGL. All this takes is a phone call. I went back to reread the pad thread and I see the color was not as pictured, so it is hard to judge.

I was more interested in his idea that women should buy a commercial grade stone and an investment grade stone. It sort of reminds me of Freeky child with her many engagement rings. I think I sort of like the idea. After all rarer and not so rare colored stones have increased in value more than diamonds which are declining, (at this point in time.)

I know most of you wear your beauties, but when I think of Chronos and TLs rings I do have to ask myself how difficult it would be to replace those rings. I think it would be damm hard. TL spess is the only Spess I have ever seen that pure orange. Very hard to replace, Being me, I wouldn;t wear it. I get pleasure just looking at them. keep the rare ones in a safe place and wear just occassionly, while th good stuff is put away until that special occassion.

I might start to suggest that, if its the appropiate time, Did you know that Wink and Texas Leagurer all started in the business in colored stones. I never knew that,

If anyone checks this stone out, let us know what you learned,, Annette

Annette,
You have touched on the reason why I do not wear my rings often and store them in a secured vault. I wear my rings with care and remove them any time I need to use my hands more often. I get more pleasure looking at my ring when it is sitting on my laptop as I work. I am aware that Wink started out in CS but did not know that Brian is the same. I was acquainted with Wink back in the founding days of Pricescope.

Many engagement rings indeed!
