Thank you, ladies. Those are my "old" red cushion Burmese spinels which have been posted here and there often. Pumpkin Pie requested ear shots but I didn't want to thread jack the OP's thread, so I started this new one in hopes that she'll see it. She was curious to see how the leverback dangles look like from afar. These are so comfortable and versatile that I wear them to bed, shower and even to exercize.

No, no, not a secret. Just a case of not being able to make up my mind!

I have these stones (topaz and moonstone) - I want to make earrings (like your leverback dangles) but I'm not sure if the moonstones 'go' with the topaz, or whether to just use the topaz pears alone. I'm going with yellow gold for sure, but am also not sure whether to bezel or prong set them.

Anyone have any opinions/advice? I'm probably going to use DanielM as the vendor.

Both are pretty but don't have a common colour to tie them together. I think the moonstone is too light for the topaz too. If setting the topaz by itself, can you bezel only the girdle, leaving the rest totally open?

Thanks for your input Chrono - it's tempting to set them together because the proportions and shapes work great together, but the colour tones don't work for me either. I think the moonstones would do great with a blue companion.

I will have to ask DanielM to see if we can just bezel the girdle to allow more light in. I really like that idea...

I can see the moonstones going well with something sky blue, darker blue or even purplish, basically anything with some blue in it.

I think I've decided on bezel setting (with as much of the back open as possible) but I'm wondering now though if I wanted to replace the moonstone with another clear stone to make the dangle more 'dangly' , which type would work best with Topaz? (diamond, white sapphire, clear zircon or others?).

Do you think Daniel could source out some more topaz for you? A pair of small rounds, like you have shown in moonstone, but perhaps a stronger colour, not as light? That idea would appeal to me- a richer deeper cocoa or "pumpkin pie" (!) colour to go with the lighter amber tone of your pears -

If you like something clear, then a topaz or zircon are great options. Actually, I can see it with something very strongly coloured, like a red zircon or even AntHill garnet or rubellite.

Thanks for your feedback ladies - I've just emailed DanielM about sourcing other stones. If they can do it, I think I'll mail my topaz stones out to them and get started on nailing down the details of the settings with them - yay
