So I was thinking...

I plan on popping the question maybe at the beginning of next year..
This is in reference to this rock
here

Anyway, I thought that the ring box was a little... well... plain.
Yes, it's actually quite a nice ring box, but I wanted to do something a little nicer...
you know, make it really something special and memorable.

Anyway, I noticed that there was this quite pretty limoges trinket box on ebay (pics coming).
Yes, it's a tad pricey, but when you consider the $15k that the ring cost, well, this is just
that little bit extra I suppose.

I believe you should be able to see images of the trinket box here:

Anyway, I decided to try and use it as the proposal presentation box instead of the standard kind.
A few "makeup sponges", elmer''s glue, and spare fabric later and I got this:

That is one unique box! It will be very memorable, is there any significance to the theme? for what it''s worth, I would be so excited about the engagement/new sparkly that the box is not really crossing my mind. Be sure that the box isn''t so elaborate that it is detracting from the 15K gift inside. However, the REAL gift is the love and commitment, and I do think that the fancy box communicates a lot of that!

Congrats in advance!!!!

I think it is wonderful and so enterprising of you - well done!!

Yes, there is a reason behind the theme, but I want to keep it a secret for now just in case my GF''s reading these posts - it''s unique enough that it might just give away the whole thing to her.

Went to Michael''s today and found this:

Burgundy colored velvet ribbon with metallic borders...
so I decided to revise the cushioning...

money shot... much nicer to the eye now
and more similar to what is included on typical ring boxes...

Oh you are so gorgeous, I hope you have a FABULOUS time at the proposal!!!!

Oh, so the underlying story is that I do a little glassblowing on the side as a sort of hobby (nothing as elegant or as pretty as the limoges box). So I thought it would be a nice sort of way to tie things together and make it just a bit more personal and special. BTW she said yes :D

I am so happy she said yes. Loved the ring, so beautiful. The box was beautiful too. You did a fantastic job. sooooo romantic

Congratulations!!!!!

Of course the ring is wonderful, but I think you did an excellent job with its presentation as well! Congrats to the both of you

Very well thought out!

she''s going to love all the extra work you did for this...

although I understand you not wanting to divulge too much info in case it gives it away- I''m concerned you will say TOO much in case se is reading this - I don''t know too many people who do glass blowing on the side as a hobby! haha...so I hope she really isn''t reading this!!!!

Good luck. Hopefully you come back with proposal story and hand shots!

AWESOME! It was pretty cool before, but that ribbon makes all the difference. Beautiful!!!

Oh ! The job you did on the box, was so wonderful! I think I preferred your box to the image you copied from any way.

Glad to hear she said yes! Congratulations!
