Linde sapphire marking

I have many star sapphires bearing the mark "L." which I assumed to be authentic Linde stars. However, recently I discovered that not all are marked in this fashion. Many are marked with only a "L" (missing the "."). The letter L appears the same in style, size, and font on both types. I have attempted to research the Linde mark and have found some websites say that Linde's are marked with the "L" and some say "L.". How do I know which is correct?

Wow! 97 people viewed this post, yet not one provided me a reply.....

1) Possibly because no one knows and you would be better off trying to find a forum that specialises in them.

2) As I understand it, these are synthetic star sapphires and as such we are not allowed to discuss them on Pricescope which is about natural, earth-mined gems.

Sorry that no one told you this earlier and good luck in trying to find the information you seek.

Exactly. Nothing much to say. You might try the online Gemology site which we are not suppose to properly name here, but can be found by googling Gemology forums.
