If you’re new and on a gem hunt, please be patient and don’t give up! Good things are worth the wait! I felt my budget was small, and some vendors told me as much. In the end, it took many months, several returns and a lot of patience to end my search. It helps to be flexible and willing to compromise on something, whether it’s size, shape, color, cut, cost, treatment, something!

The sapphire is a 6.35 x 6.25 x 4.46mm radiant cut, purchased from Mastercut Gems, sourced from Dana’s friend at Anagee Gems in Sri Lanka. It came with an AGL brief stating basic heat only. Dana’s photos are first followed by mine. I couldn’t resist the photo with kitty!

I chose DanielM for the setting and he and Caren were wonderful as always. The design was kept simple in accordance with my budget. The metal is 14k unplated white gold, a lovely warm white color. The 4 week time estimate wasn’t accurate, but there was no looming deadline and I’ve learned it’s best not to rush projects so it wasn’t an issue. Communication was excellent all around.

The sapphire has several inclusions under the table. They look like long, thin chrysanthemum petals, maybe feathers. They were only noticeable in certain light and were pretty as inclusions go so they didn’t bother me. I did secretly hope they’d disappear once set and they did! The gem was sold as precision cut, however the facet meets aren’t all 100% perfect and the table is very slightly off center  The overall shape is so lovely and the color is so pretty that these small flaws are unnoticeable to me.

It always surprises me how big my ring size is so we won’t go there. I never knew there were so many beautiful hands and fingers until I came here! Mine serve me well though. Earlier in the day I had to set the ring aside to go work cattle, otherwise it hasn’t been off my finger. First Caren’s photos.

My photos are a mix of outdoor and indoor shots. The first has been enhanced with effects, but not color. The sapphire is more saturated IRL and shifts color from more blue to more violet depending on the light.

Thanks for everyone’s kindness and patience with all of us sapphire lovers, gemstone novices and jewelry nuts. No one else quite understands!

Fantastic, bluebirrrd!! That colour tone and saturation really appeals to me and I'm very happy or you that your patience paid off. That's so much more satisfying than rushing to get just ANY stone - great discipline!

And I loved working w Caren on my danielM projects too. Very smooth, great communication and so well priced!!

It looks lovely on you :appl: and all your pics are amazing! Enjoy this beauty!

Oh I think this is so pretty bluebirrd!! Beautiful color and a lovely setting - love the prongs! It looks perfect on you and btw you have lovely hands!

What a beautiful color and I agree that simple setting really works. You have so many fun props at home to pose your rings on! And I think your hand shots are plenty nice.

Thank you for the photos. All is forgiven! You take good pics and its such a pretty subject 8) Oh, and your kitty is darn pretty too.

Beautiful! I love the stone, the setting, the whole package.
I've only done one project with DanielM, but found the experience to be wonderful. So glad to see you also had a good experience. I have ideas forming for the next one, though...
Enjoy your lovely ring, and wear it in good health!!!

Gorgeous! DanielM is just knocking it out of the park right now! I love the double prong action--really accentuates the shape of the stone!

Bluebirrrd, it's really beautiful. The colour is gorgeous and the setting is stunning. Looks fab on you. This gives me great hope for my own sapphire hunt. Thanks :D

Beautiful stone, beautiful ring, beautiful photographs! :appl:

Very pretty! :appl:

Your ring turned out just beautifully, and it looks wonderful on your hand. I love  the color of your sapphire! You took some amazing photos, too. (Your kitty's face is just precious!)

Congratulations on a great ring that I know you will love wearing - it just glows!

Hi

I love the color. Lucky you!

Annette

Love everything about it. And your cute kitty!

Kitty has good taste! So do you -- gorgeous sapphire!! Worth every bit of the wait & work, though I doubt it felt that way at the time. It is really really beautiful & I love it's purple phase too. It & its setting are a home run!

--- Laurie

P.S. Work cattle? Do you live on a ranch?

HI:

Great ring and nicely photographed!

cheers--Sharon

BB: Do you think its a color shifter, cuz it sure looks like one in your pics

I didn't have time to come back and post yesterday, but I wanted to thank each of you for the kind comments, *especially* if I haven't mentioned you individually below.

Minou, I definitely felt scolded so I'm glad I could make it right! Is it a color shifter, I don't know but I guess it probably is. It's sometimes blue, sometimes violet and usually in between. My jewelry rarely seems to be noticed or complimented, but I imagine someone is probably going to mistake it for tanzanite eventually.

FrekeChild, I definitely agree that DanielM is on a roll! I became a DM stalker during this process, checking finished projects daily to monitor my place in the queue. What I realized is just how hard he and Caren are working to keep up with all their custom requests. They certainly deserve any extra recognition they receive.

Scarlett1, I love your comment and that's exactly what I wanted - to give hope to other sapphire lovers out there. Don't give up now, because there are still reasonable deals out there and even if prices are rising, they're lower now than they will be later. I hope to see a thread for your project eventually.

JewelFreak, thank you for complementing the setting. Although I originally hoped for something more elaborate, this is actually more in keeping with my lifestyle and so well made! Yes, most people would never guess, but I'm a ranchgirl born and raised.

It's beautiful!!

The first word that came to mind when I saw your ring was "elegant". I love your blue sapphire and think the setting really brings it to life. Well done.

I keep coming back to admire the color blue. (cue non-existent blushing emotie). This ring really is gorgeous!!

(And you're right, you have no idea just how hard D and C work until you do some DM sold section stalking...been there, done that myself!)
