Ok, ladies. What is up with my fingers!?!?! They usually swell slightly at night and if I sleep with my ring on I can''t get it off first thing when I wake up but after about 30 minutes they go back to normal. But that is the ONLY time they have ever gotten sausage-like on me.

So today. I could BARELY get my ring on in the morning. And when I did it is like squishing out finger fat on both sides? Even now, at 1:00, it''s still squishy fatty.

What could make them get so fatty, squishy, sausage-y? Something I ate?

Did you drink enough water? If you are short on fluids, your body will retain water. Also, if you consume too much sodium, you will also retain water.

haha ok ewww. I read the title of this and starting thinking mmmmm..I bet this is a Christmas thread about some sort of delightful European or American stuffed sausagey thingy.

Sorry about your fingers, now I am hungry!

Probably not as much as I should. I''ve never really been an 8 glass of water a day kinda girl

We had roast, potatoes, and noodles with gravy for dinner last night when my parents were over. Had a lot of garlic salt in the roast to give it flavor....maybe it was that.

The garlic salt could have done it, together with not drinking enough water in the first place.

Mine swell sometimes if they get too cold. But if you said that they typically don''t swell during the day this might not be it. I bet it is what the others said not enough water and too much salt.

Ditto. I can sympathise as I have snausagey fingers at times too

Start glugging some extra water if you can.

Totally agree about the water retention from dehydration/sodium. If it continues, see a doc because edema can be a symptom of other things. Drink water!

Salt and too many carbs do that to me. I ate chinese food Friday night and Saturday morning I could not get my rings on! Its more pronounced when those are foods you don''t normally eat. By Sunday, my fingers were fine. Also happens if I have an extra long workout too.

Things that my fingers (and face

) swell --

- Lots of food late at night, and it doesn''t matter what kind of food it is. Only solution I''ve found is to go back to sleep. And makeup! Although I guess that doesn''t help with the finger problem so much...
- Exercise. The blood pumping to my fingers gives me rolls around my ring

- Heat. Showers are my fingers'' enemy! All my rings get so darn tight if I wear them while I shower... Thanks to the winter weather, I can now take off my rings with one shake of the hand.

So, based on my experiences, if you could eat only light foods for the rest of the day, go to sleep early after no exercise, and be slightly cold during the night, your fingers will either be back to normal or thinner than normal in the morning! Unfortunately, I have no other suggestions... drinking lots of water makes my stomach swell up and didn''t help much with my fingers swelling -- plus, I''d rather have my fingers be sausage-like than my stomach be watermelon-like...

Hope one of the helpful PS suggestions work!

P.S. Your dinner last night sounds delicious. I''m definitely jealous.

On a side note: Your avatar is gorgeous, ang3199!! what an artsy shot :-).

Justageek: Thank you. It was a one chance shot, my pictures of my ring usually suck.

I love your avatar sooo much more though! My pup does that when he''s totally exhausted. FI always comments to Harley (the dog) that it must hurt to lay like that (he''s a boy). Hahah.
