I was given this ring by my husband when we got married. I always thought it was beautiful and had never really given any thought to its age, that is of course until my husband and I started talking about it. I know that the diamond is a european cut diamond and that his great grandmother wore it. Other than that... nothing. I was curious whether someone would know if it was a 50''s style or more of a victorian or art neuveau style? (please forgive the picture... I am not sure if it will bein the post or not but I did try to attach it. lol)

Oh wow! What a lovely ring! It sure looks like an old european cut to me. I can''t see the cut on the smaller diamonds, but they look older too. I''m no expert on jewelry, but it sure looks art nouveau to me. Love it!

You are so fortunate to have this ring! I''m appreciating the older diamonds and settings these days.

Calling Grace! She would be able to tell you more about your ring. She posts on here and is a lover of old diamonds.

In case she doesn''t see this thread, here''s her contact: http://www.jewelsbyericagrace.com/contact_us

It''s difficult to say from the photo - we need something where the table is better visible and a shot of the crown/profile of the diamond to be surer (though the only way to be sure is to look at it in person!). The centre looks like an OEC, but the setting I''d say is modern - at most from the ''60s. The side stones don''t seem to be full-cut, so it''s possible they are old as well.

Just my 2¢

Looks retro to me... Lovely oec!

I don''t know the details but I LOVE THAT RING!

My uneducated guess is that it is an old stone that was reset at some point. I love the stone!

Very pretty.

Pretty! Can you get a profile of the centre stone?

Oh My...wonderful piece!

WOW!! Beautiful ring!!! (sorry, can''t chime in with any info)

Charming setting, beautiful stone. I would guess the stone is from the 1910s-30s, reset in the 1950s-60s. Wear it in health & happiness!

What a beautiful ring!! It reminds me somewhat of my mother''s ring. I love the whimsy of the setting. Just gorgeous.

What a cool piece! Love it! Can you post more pics? I can''t see it well enough to try to answer any of your questions. Thanks!

My guess is that this ring was bought at a re-styling event of some jewelry chain or independant store sometime in the late 1980s to early 1990s...this mounting style is exactly like a style that was offered at every show I ever worked for three different jewelry companies during that period of time. Dave Downy company was the lead company that sponsered hundreds of shows in the late 80s and early 90s...many people scraped grandmas ring to have the diamonds put into a new setting while they wait.

Interesting! I would have guessed ''50s/''60s on the setting without knowing that. Good info! I always wonder what the original settings looked like- one of my OECs has a modern setting, and I often wonder what the original owner had it set in...

The smaller diamonds look like they are single cuts (at least from what I can see in the pic), so could be they were salvaged from the original setting too...

the single cuts were salvaged from the original...i agree...i bet every diamond from the original setting has been used because of the way the stones are crowded together and the larger stone is covering the smaller stones...i dont believe that a ring would be designed like this originally...

I think your ring is beautiful. I recent bought an OMC and am stunned by it''s beauty. The older cuts are so pretty.
