LIW - getting close, i think - regular manis?

Hi ladies!! I am somewhat new to the boards but am a LIW and have been for sometime!!

I have been dating my boyfriend for 3 years. Finally in May we went looking at diamonds. My dream is a pear and we saw one which I hope to see again soon.

I have a strong feeling that the ring is in our house now, and that things might start happening in the next couple weeks.

I have short, yucky nails and have never had manis - but I think I would like to get a mani here pretty soon and keep it up just in case I am taken off guard. So question is for you lovely ladies in similar boats, how often does a plain-ish mani last - how far apart should I space my appointments? Anyone else doing this? Does it help get you through this late-stage waiting period?

I''m totally in the same boat as you.. We''ve even been dating for (lil over) 3 years, just like you guys!! I know he has the ring and the waiting is the hardest part!
i have natural (but long) nails and mani''s seem to last different amounts of time for me. I''ve had one really great one that lasted like 4 weeks.. it was a plain polish though.. No airbrush. That only lasts me about a week.
The other day, I discovered these incoco nail polish appliques here on ps. They are great!

and I carted bf to walgreens to buy some. I told him that I was going to do my nails with these once a week until he proposes and he called me crazy lol. Then he promised me that as soon as he proposes, he''ll take me to get my nails done so that I can have killer handshots.. so I''ll probably just take him up on that offer.

Btw, the incoco things are starting to wear off. I did them tuesday so that''s about 5 days?

For you, I def recommend getting a mani as a quick fix and then keeping it up like you said. if you have cuticles that rip and hurt, that may make for a painful first trip to the salon. Message vitamin e into them every night and that should fix them in about a week or so?

For a while, the only manicure received was in 1998 when I had my junior prom (oh i feel so old!). I just recently got one and I love it. Rings look soooo much better on me. I would also say that if there is a ring you particularly want get your nails done RIGHT BEFORE you try on that one. So it looks even better and stands out from others hehehe.

I have really stubby nails and I usually just peel them off instead of cutting them ( i know I know horrible). But since I recently got these french manicure fake ones, I''m addicted. It really is a must try!

I have to admit, Ive never paid attention to my nails before, but now that i have them. Bliss! The manicurist said ever two weeks, but I''m looking at my nails now and thinking meh. I''m going to save money and get it again in three weeks so I don''t get caught unawares.

Same boat over here! Dated 3 years, and I know for sure the ring is in his possession....just waiting...waiting...and waiting.

I love doing my nails! I usually stop during the summer so I can play golf and stuff, but decided against it this year just in case he decides to pop the question!

I usually go for Bio Gel nails, and it lasts 4-6 weeks. Since it''s gel, it won''t come off like regular polish... your nails are stronger which makes it ultra easy to grow them into beautiful long nails! After the first time, you just need to get a "refill" to fill the gap after 4-6 weeks so it''s cheaper.

I was just thinking the same thing. I''m thinking a proposal may be coming on Friday and I trying to figure out if I should get mine done. I usually get short tips with a french manicure. There''s nothing wrong with a little treat for yourself and beautiful nails for handshots!

I thought this was funny.. I was at the gym and just got a compliment on my nails. First time ever in my life!!

I guess getting those nails done can get you noticed. If you get yours done i''m sure they''ll look great in pictures!

Waiting and painting my nails. Waiting and filing my nails. Waiting and trying not to bite my nails. And WAITING and WAITING and WAITING!

I''m in the same boat....fingers crossed sometime this month. I''ve been going with natural light sheer pink, but I''m kind of boring. I''d say skip a color so the ring gets noticed instead of the nails.

Ohh pooooo...and we all wait!
