Hey everyone!

I wasn't sure if I should wait to actually be put on the list before writing my intro, so I just waited! :D

I've been dating my SO for three years. A year and a half of it was long-distance before he found a job where I am, where he's now about an hour away. Every time I do the drive, I just remember how much worse it used to be when I had to fly 1,000 miles to see him!

For a long, long time, he was adamantly "not the marrying type". and since I'm 10 years younger, I didn't think much of it because I was honestly not ready either. And then I was! So I realized that it wouldn't be fair to him or me if we were looking for different things in life and we should really try to find other people to be with who do share our goals.

During the holidays, we had a serious talk about it and whether or not what we want in life are the same, and it was a huge revelation (and a huge weight off of my heart, I might add) that we do. Wanting to be savvy consumers, we did a lot of research and in the process also stumbled on to the wonderful world that is PS!

Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing fun stories! :wavey:

Hi TwinkleStar,

Seems like we have a couple of things in common, FI and I were (very) long distance for a good part of our relationship and he's 8 1/2 years older than me.

So.....hows the ring reasurch going? Any ideas as to what you want?

Welcome! :wavey:

Welcome! Hope you don't have to stay here too long! Let us know about your ring search!

Welcome! :wavey: Hope your stay here is short =)

My bf is 6 years older than I am, so kinda know what you mean. I bet a lot of guys think they're not the marrying type until they find someone they're head over heels for. Welcome to the section!

Welcome to LIW!!!

Hope your stay is short and sweet. :wavey:

Thanks, all! I love this group!!

4ever and shouldibehere - You know, all of the guys my age are super bachelors and playboys and just want to have fun. When I met my SO, I thought he'd have moved on from that since he was SO MUCH OLDER THAN MY FRIENDS! :twirl: Turns out he was still enjoying all of the same things they were! :D

We'd actually talked about getting married playfully 6 weeks into our relationship, but looking back on that, I don't think we knew anything then and definitely did not know what we wanted in life, even for our individual selves. I'm very grateful for the time that we've had to date and get to know each other.

OMG, and 4ever, long-distance can be so tough!! It almost doesn't feel real, having a relationship via phone and e-mail with a visit every 6 weeks. When he moved down here, it actually took quite a bit of adjustment. I went from having a relationship in my head but still doing whatever I wanted with my time to actually having another person in my life.

As for the ring, my search started where many searches start - at Tiffany's! I was in love with the Tiffany Novo for a long time, but the more I read on PS, the more it bothered me how much more I'd be paying at Tiffany's to get the ring I'd like. (No offense to any Tiffany fans - I still love Tiffany's, but maybe not for my e-ring :D)

I still love the idea of the Novo, except with a RB and just a similar micropave on the band. After seeing all of these lovely PS rings, I'm starting to love cushions and Asschers and halos, too! Leon Mege's work also looks amazing, but it sounds like he will be really expensive.

So, still looking. I think it may be easier once we find a stone, but that has proved to be a long and arduous process. We found one we loved until we put it under an IS, and it broke my heart that it was not a top performer! Also, and I posted this in the rant forum, my brother just got a gorgeous 1.5 RB (E-F, VS1-2), so I hope it's not too copycat to get the same cut. I don't think he'll mind at all, but you know, all of us just want to be a little extra special. :D

Anyway, thanks for reading, and so excited to meet you all! Having this place does make the waiting easier.

Welcome, TS :wavey:

Glad you and the BF are on the same page, hope your stay is short here :cheeky:

Hi Twinklestar! Welcome to LIW! How awesome that you guys had a heart to heart and realized that you were compatible! Soooo many couples never have that conversation and end up married and realize that they weren't long term material at all! I hope that your stay is short and sweet! <3!
