Hi PS! I posted yesterday in search of a wedding band to go with my engagement ring and decided I should make a thread dedicated to my ring! It's done my Leon Mege who my fiance says was great to deal with and had a fast turn around. It's a 2 carat emerald cut, E color, VS1 clarity. It has a 1.22 ratio so it's on the chunkier side which I really love! Measurements are 8.38 x 6.86. I love the broad flashes of light you get from a step cut and the rainbow of colors. It also picks up the surrounding colors awesome! I was standing under some trees and it picked up all the greens from the leaves. Here are a few pics! Also it anyone has a suggestion of someone that does engraved wedding bands please throw it out there, so far David Klass and VC have been mentioned. Thank you!IMG_1265.jpg IMG_1381.JPG IMG_1386.JPG IMG_1313.jpg

WOW OH WOW!!! Truly gorgeous. Your fiancé did a fantastic job choosing the stone and gave it the perfect setting. Congratulations!!

Wow. I don't even like emerald cuts but that one to die for!:shock::shock: It has almost an antique look to it. The setting is perfection. This might be my favorite new addition to SMTB!!!!:love::love::love:

What a beauty! Congrats on your engagement.

As for the engraved band, David Klass does beautiful work so I second that recommendation.

Killer ring!!! I love emerald cuts and that one is just amazing and the setting is so fabulous! Congratulations to you and your fiancé. He hit it out if they park!

Spectacular !

The look of the emerald cut is certainly not common ...

I would have never guessed the weight of the diamond ! May I ask what size is the ring, approx. ?
Thank you all! My ring size is a 4.75, the side stone baguettes have a tcw of .56

Do you guys think a 3mm wide wedding band would be too thick of a look with this ring?

Gorgeous!!!:love: I love step cuts.

Caysie Van Bebber does beautiful scroll work. CVB Inspired design

Hubba hubba!!!! Ahh LM does have the perfect eye for proportions in my opinion. It's beautiful rings like yours that make me wonder about step cuts. Congratulations and enjoy the ring for many years to come! I echo soxfan's comment to have a band that is thinner than 3 mm. Perhaps stick with the same width as your e-ring?

Honestly though, these are just opinions and go with what you enjoy most! Go to a store and try on different bands with your e-ring and hopefully the decision will be as crystal clear as your beautiful stone!

Yes, LM is really great. He's making my sister's engagement now. Her future fiance picked a round diamond. I've been to a couple stores locally and because my ering is set so low the wedding bands just don't look right (they are way too tall). My fiance and I were wanting matching celtic warrior bands and I'm just not sure the design would look right on a 2mm thickness. I might need to get 2 bands. A thin plain one to wear with ering and a thicker one to wear on its own. But I will def contact CVB Inspired design per whitewave's suggestion and see what she says.

Your asscher is gorgeous!

Thank you. I am a step cut girl!!! Love emeralds and asschers!! Whoever picked yours out did a great job!!

Gorgeous!!

The width of the ring's band where it joins the side-stones looks elegant to me. Slightly wider - say, .5mm wider - perhaps as well ... (IHMO)

Doesn't LM do engraved bands ? I remember at least one or two over the years - done as well as you might expect. Obviously not a staple of his workshop - likely because of how engraving wears, I'd guess, so you might get a lecture on the impermanence of things together with the band !

Sidenote: I am intrigued by the possibility of AOP engraving, because pave - especially the micro- kind, is very related to engraving ...

I think I remember only seeing one on his website so I thought it might make more sense to find someone who specializes in it...not sure how involved/complicated engraving is. But it might make sense for him to do it since he already knows how tall and thick my ering is and if he'd be willing to copy a specific design.

What is AOP engraving? I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything.

Arrrgh ! "AOP" = Art of Platinum, LM's shop name

Engraving is quite some art ... [several years of apprenticeship - PhD-sized workload & complexity, IHMO]. LM - as anyone else, must request the services of a specialist themselves - not many engravers work with the public directly. The few I know of specialize in larger projects than jewelry (fine silver etc.).

Lol, duh! Totally didn't click! I thought it was some special type of engraving. His pave (and really all his work) is beautiful and it wouldn't hurt to see what he says about it.

Your ring is gorgeous and has an elegant, regal look! Love it!

What a beauty!:cheeky:

The faceting on that rock is quite unusual, but in a good way!

Amazing fire off of it, I always thought that Emeralds were better for white-light return but this looks to have loads of fire!

I hope you enjoy wearing it, it is beautiful :)

Man.. he did REALLY well when picking that stone.. just GORGEOUS!

Thank you! Yes, it has some chunky facets that throw off large rainbows of color. It's pretty cool!

It's such a gorgeous ring and she looks perfect on you. I love that you created a SMTB thread for your beautiful ring!

Man that is one beautiful ring! I would get a non diamond wedding band that is the same width of the ring. Anything bigger will detract from that perfection and take away the symmetry of the current setting. You really do not have to add more sparkle to your left finger. If you want something fancier then buy a stand alone wedding ring and bling to your heart's content and wear it without the ER.

Oh, what a stunning ring! I agree that the emerald has a vintage feel to it (which I adore!). The proportions of the setting are just perfect, which is one of the things LM is known for. I'd go try on a 3mm band and see what you think of the width. If you like it, then you can discuss height with whichever vendor you end up using. CvB's engraver does stupendous work, so I know it's something he could execute flawlessly....
