I am going to a black tie wedding in March. I COULD wear my BM''s dress as a back-up but I kinda hated the way I looked in it. An option is to take it back to the tailor b/c it fit me strangely but I wouldn''t be opposed to getting a new one that isn''t too expensive. I don''t have a lot of black tie affairs in my future. Any ideas?

If you didn''t like the BM dress to begin with than altering it probably still won''t make you feel great in it. I''d take that alteration money and get a new one that you feel great in!! I went to a black tie wedding last year and I went in to Macy''s and actually found so many great deals. I actually ended up getting two dresses for the cost of what I had budgeted to spend on one!

I just spent an entire trying to find a long dress, online. Maybe you could search the sales, I found some at Nordstrom''s and Dillards. I ordered 8 dresses, of course I hope one
will fit. I will actually go shopping, but doing the online search always gives me an idea of what''s out there. Have you thought of a consignment shop? I know it''s a long shot, but
sometimes a treasure can be waiting. Do you have to wear a long dress? There are some great deals on short dresses too and maybe you''d get more wear from a short one.

lizzy it is a pretty dress but I ordered it when I had a lot of my baby weight left over. They had to take it in...a lot but still seemed too big. Not sure if they can take it in more or if I want to pay for that (good point). I think I spent around $100 the first time around for them to shorten it and b/c they had to move the boning.

bebe, I asked the bride and she said men in tuxes, women in long dresses. The wedding is not in the US so many black tie weddings are more common there. I am planning on going shopping next week when DD is in preschool. Hopefully I can find something. Any colors I should avoid (besides white or cream)?
