Hello ladies,

Well, last week was a HUGE week! I finally landed the job I have wanted for months. I have been in the transition of a career change for about a year now and I finally did it!!! (Moved from finance into marketing...I finally get to use my degree and my creative side.)

We celebrated with friends on Friday night and on Sat., my BF and I went to an actual store and tried on rings. I fell in love with the Tacoris, I have always liked them on this site. I narrowed it down to two that I loved and my BF was so great. He said "I just like watching you, watching your reaction and now I have a much better idea of what it is you like". I never wear rings or very much jewelry for that matter so he knows picking out an ER is a big deal. I am not sure if it was from too much celebrating the night before, nerves or excitment but at one point my BF asked if I was ok. I guess I broke out in a little sweat and my hands were shaking! He was actually picking out rings for me to try...I def. saw a different side of him :) These are the two I love!

I have waited a loonnnnggggg time for this and I can''t believe it''s finally happening! I feel like this is going to be a HUGE year. I am still waiting to see about using my mom''s old engagement diamond...she still can''t find it

So, now that I have the new job, I am taking 2 weeks of and flying back to the east coast to see family. I knew I would be going back at some point this summer. I guess I had always had my hopes up that we would be engaged for when I went home. (I only get home once a year). For those of you who remember my story, we are coming up on the one year of living together in October and that is the timeframe that BF promised we would be engaged, so realisiticaly I thought it could happen by July-August.

Help me not to be disappointed that we won''t be engaged for when I go home. I know, I am happy that we are moving forward, truly I am! I just had this "fantasy" that I would be going home, seeing relatives and friends and even start talking about the wedding.

Thanks for lisitening :)

congrats on many levels! I hope your new job brings you lots of excitement! And HOORAY for trying on rings. I remember when my boyf asked me to mark all the ring styles i liked in a catologue (so he could get ideas). I had that sharpie marker out faster than you can say "sharpie."

I wish i could tell you how not to be dissapointed. The only thing i can suggest is that at least you call tell everyone that he has been looking at rings :)

I forgot to say - I am so sorry about the heirloom piece - i know it meant a lot to you and your mom. Hopefully it will turn up in some time.

I am a true Tacori lover, although i did not end up with one... its so hard to not be disappointed when you are constantly expecting an engagement.. There is no way around it either!! Once we started trying on rings it was down hill from there!! i was so excited and everytime something came up.. or we went somewhere.. or did something a little out of the ordinary i would secretly hope that it would be "it".

I think that you could just get really excited about coming home (where on the east coast btw) and try not to focus so hard on the engagement. he sounds like a major sweetpea. he needs time to think of the perfect proposal that you are so deserving of!!!!

DO NOT be disappointed if it does not happen in time for your trip home!

Having a ring created takes time. As far as I know, most Tacori''s need to be ordered, created and then shipped and your BF is still going to have to find a diamond for your beauty.

The wait will be worth it and who knows...maybe you will be able to plan a short weekend trip out to show your family after it happens! If you are really excited and he has the setting in time but you are still waiting on the stone maybe you can throw a temporary CZ in it which looks like the stone you want to get. Then you can show off your setting at least!

You are right! I was hoping the store carried my size but they said it would take at least 4 weeks to order. So unless he finds the ring somewhere else, by some miracle gets it before Tuesday of next week, then I know it's not going to happen.

How is it that I thought a guy could walk into a jewelry store, pick out a ring and that would be it??? Isn't that how it happens on TV??? ;)

LOL! Imagine how easy life would be if it was just like the movies!!

Rings on display at stores typically have CZ''s in them (not always but most of the time) so it''s very rare to walk in and out with a ring. Depending on the size of your stone, the stock ring may not be designed to accomodate the size which is why they usually order your setting once you know the size and shape of the stone. I always thought they were one size fits all but they certainly are not!

Each and every day I learn something new about how complicated the entire process can really be - but it''s one wait I have no doubt is worth all the hassle!
