I am looking to propose to my significant other ASAP and we've found a 1.7 carat ring on Etsy from a company called Britain for around 5k, I am not sure if I can trust the company and want to know the best places to look for similar rings. I understand if I may need to downgrade carats at that price range but just to do not want to buy a fake ring from this company online. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you please link us to the Etsy page? At this price it is likely to be not a real diamond or else clarity enhanced in some way.

There are reputable Etsy sellers. They will tend to have a return policy, a social media presence that goes back years with plenty of real followers and likes and comments, a good reputation on various forums including PS, and GIA or IGI certificates for their diamonds. They will be a little cheaper but not incredibly cheaper than non-Etsy vendors. If any of those factors is missing, be suspicious.

Yes, please do post the link to the etsy listing.

This is the only ring I could quickly find that approximates what you've described. But the seller is BestBrilliance, not a Britani -- and the diamond is clarity enhanced (i.e., fracture filled) by who knows what process. (If the clarity enhancement were done by Yehuda, the diamond would be inscribed to reflect that - and Yehuda would be prominently mentioned in the listing, as that's the most reputable method of clarity enhancement. Not that I am urging you to buy a clarity enhanced diamong ring.)

That price pretty much guarantees that theres something not right about the stone. Fracture filled, some kind of sim, etc. If you tell us what kind of stone/style you are looking for and what your budget is, we can help!

Yeah I searched shop names and couldn't find a shop called Britani.

Here are two examples of what your budget can get if you want a real and accurately-graded diamond:

A .91 J VS2 ideal-cut diamond from a premier vendor:

The largest still well cut I could find on the diamond search
a 1.23 K VS2 AGS Ideal cut (already judged by AGS for light performance):

Something rarecarat calls a "rarecarat ideal" but I didn't bother looking up how we'd approve of it, from a jeweler I don't know anyone who has used,
a 1.32 K Si1 (worth noting this has the same face-up size as the 1.23):

all with basic solitaire settings.

A big NO NO NO.
The diamond is Clarity Enhanced!
Clarity Enhanced can mean the diamond is fracture filled and a solid bump can split the diamond.
Its also a Princess cut (out of fashion) with vast expanses of girdle (edges) just waiting to be bumped accidentally.
A lot of people would say clarity enhanced diamonds have little to no real value and honestly, should be avoided.

I think you’re replying to the diamond mollymalone posted. We don’t yet know what OP is actually looking at.

This is an amazing stone at an unreal price.
