Hello, I found a setting that I think would be great for an engagement ring for my girlfriend at a local B&M. Unfortunately they are unwilling to move at all on price for this setting or to sell me just the setting, claiming it is from their signature collection, and I think their prices are just too high.
I curious if anyone out there knows of a similar setting.
Thank you much.

It is platinum, with pink diamonds, bead set using "pink" gold.

I am leaning towards just biting the bullet and buying it from the B&M. I just want to better know my options.

Gosh, I haven't seen anything like it but it's very pretty. It may be worth it to email a couple of vendors who do custom and see if they can give you quote on how much it would cost them to make something similar. I have no idea how much the pink gold would be or how that factors into the price.

eTA: the diamonds don't look pink in the picture..did they use pink in the real setting?

ETAA: after looking again, they do look a very light pink..

Someone else you should try is www.diamondsbylauren.com. They have a lot of pink diamonds, and they also do settings in rose gold.

i''d recommend Quest Jewelers

they do amazing work and their prices are very reasonable. You can see examples of their work here.

I do want to say..with custom there is always a chance that the ring will not be exact. If you love something exactly as is, i would seriously consider just buying the real thing. Custome can be great when you want to make minor changes but their is a pretty good chance it will be different than the original.

In my opinion, go custom if you plan to use pink diamonds. I told the jeweler what shade of pink I wanted, what size etc.

I have seen a lot of pre-made settings or jewelry with pinks that looked a lot closer to beige than pink. It really just depends on what your color preference is.

Good luck! And make sure you post pictures :)

So pretty! Before going the custom route, can you find out which designer this is by? Most jewelry stores don't make their own jewelry. This one reminds me of some Ritani settings. It might be cheaper to buy pre-made.

ETA: never mind, I see where you found the ring. That store does make beautiful jewelry!

Thank you for the links and feedback. I think the setting is a great match for my girlfiriend and the jewlers have been very helpful. I am new to this kind of shopping and while I can gather that their price for the actual diamond is high I can at least guage how high it is. With the setting I have no way to guage other than seeking out a custom design.

Top of the market for the diamond and no movement off of book retail for the setting causes me to pause.

I am willing to pay a premium for the service and reputation of the local B&M but I haven''t come to terms with paying top of the market when it might not be necessary.

Thanks for the input.

my e-ring came from a B&M.

Once I had researched prices online, we simply offered a fair price for the diamond and they accepted the offer. It was literally thousands$ less than their retail asking price.

Have you tried to negotiate on the diamond at all? (maybe you did, I wasn't sure from how your post read)

I also encountered a wide range of prices in settings and I wanted something pretty simple.

The higher-end rings are custom made to fit the stone, the craftsmanship is better and the design is DEFINTELY better.

If I wanted something very straightforward, I'd go custom (and I recommend www.Quest.com very highly).
BUT, if design is VERY important to you, I wouldn't try to be your own designer.

Nevertheless, you can see a lot of gorgeous custom rings done by White Flash and Quest, so it's just my opinion here.....
There is a lot at stake.

There is something magical about a well designed ring. The ring you posted is definitely magical.
Good Luck!!!

This is the closest thing I''ve seen. It''s by Simon G. He does a lot with pink diamonds...they are beautiful in person!

Are you pretty sure that she would like rose gold and or pink diamonds? It is a lovely ring, no doubt, but a risk if it will be a complete surprise. Unless she has jewlery like this, etc... Just a thought!

I love the setting you posted. I have just spent many hours the last few days researching pink diamond rings on the internet since I was looking for a pink diamond wedding band to add a little color to my wedding set. I finally found one online. I''m sure you know how expensive pink diamonds are. And, unlike some others here with a preference for pink diamonds, I actually prefer the pale pinks. Pink is my favorite color. If I were you, I would scoop that setting up in a heartbeat! It is lovely. I regret not having pink diamonds set in my e-ring.

Other jewelers can try to duplicate the semi-mount, as other posters have said, but I would get the one you found if you love it. Pink diamonds are only going to get more expensive as time goes on. B&M''s have to sell settings at a certain cost due to an agreement with certain designers. It''s not that they won''t negotiate, they can''t. But, as others here have said, you can try to negotiate on the price of the center diamond.

That Simon G setting is beautiful too, but I wouldn''t be surprised if it costs even more than the setting you found.

Please let us know what you decide! Good luck.

oooh Lizz... I really like that one you found. Very pretty!

I am having my pink diamond wedding band made. It''s less $$, and I get to chose the color. Could you share a link to the one you found? I haven''t decided yet on the exact style of mine. (Although, I am thinking very dainty)

LOVE this one.

KK, I bought my band from generousgems.com. It''s a channel-set princess band. Very pale pink stones. They do have some bands with round stones, however, not sure if they''d match the pinks in your halo. Your ring is one of my faves!
