Looking for advice on a stone - first purchase.

Hi all,
Grateful for the community here - I've learned a lot from these forums and have thoroughly enjoyed doing so. Thank you in advance for help.

I'm looking to have a ring made and the jeweller has offered a stone which is outside (what I've read are...) traditional ranges but returns a 1.4 on HCA. Looking for a few opinions on its suitability. Is there anything I should know about this diamond and is it worth going for?

I plan to get it set in a simple, handmade platinum setting with diamonds on the shoulders (something similar to a Cartier 1895 but with 6 prongs and a rail between them).

Thanks very much DejaWiz. This is in part why I made the post - I had found the stone to be outside those ranges but the HCA score 1.4. Then landed on some information about 60-60 diamonds and thought a second opinion is needed - thank you!

Would love some help searching for a diamond. I'd likely be getting it set in Australia if that makes a difference, in order of .5 to .8cts. K ring size. Current understanding is to maximise size would trade other variables to F/VS2. Not entirely sure of budget for just the stone but total budget of ~8k AUD (which is higher than the quote for that stone + handmade labour).

I agree with the others not to buy the stone you posted. Here's one more option.

Hi again - have a few options back from the jeweller. On balance it feels simpler to work with the jeweller first to find a stone and then explore online options later so I sent the proportions recommended to him and was sent back option 2 and 3 below.

I'm wondering how to go forward given they all broadly score well (the best HCA was disliked here unanimously!).

1st Option (this was the first stone I posted)

- HCA of 1.4

2nd Option

- HCA 3.2

3rd Option

- HCA 2.0

4th option I found on diamondexchange.com.au
