Looking for some advice on this diamond. I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend soon and looked at a jewelry store at this diamond. It says its a si3 with e color. From my eye it seems to be very nice. Based upon what others have said on other forums although they say im overpaying. For atarters the 18k setting is 1800. Then the diamond is around 7800 im pretty sure. Im not sure im getting a good deal as this is my first time buying a diamond.

I also talked to the shop and they said they could get a 1.9 carat with a notch down on color and 1 up on clarity for 500 more ordered for me.

I am looking to spend around 10k for about a 1.75carat to 2carat ring

Others better suited on here to help you pick your stone....but this is a definite bail...si3 isn't really a recognized clarity grade when it comes to ideal cut stones... You want a GIA certed diamond... Or Ags...

You'll have to go down in size, but trust me when I tell you it's worth it in every aspect. If you're in the US let people on here help work with your budget to get you a top cut stone that is eyeclean.

A SI3 or I1 clarity (GIA/AGS) may have structural issues. You should really return this stone and start over. Also, EGL typically grades two step higher in color so an EGL E would be a GIA G color.

As @Stive85 mentioned, you can post any contenders here and the prosumers can help you vet the stones.

Here are some comps on G/ I1 clarity:

So many things you need to avoid: EGL, I3 clarity, price. Do us a favor and go to one of the vendors 'vetted' by members of this community. Look for a diamond with AGS or GIA certificate. Look for a diamond with no less than S1 clarity. Folks like Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, Continental Diamond. I suspect you will find MUCH, MUCH better quality diamonds for the same $10K listed above on that less than stellar stone.

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, drake1126!
Do you have the EGL grading report number and/or any videos of this diamond?
