Looking for feedback about fixed versus sliding pendant necklaces

Hello PS’ers, I am looking for feedback on your experience with pendant necklaces.

I am considering a pendant design that is fixed, meaning the pendant does not move on the chain. What is your experience wearing these? My concern is that the pendant will frequently not be centered on the neck.

I have had a sliding pendant and it goes off center with movement. However, it was easily fixed by just sliding the pendant. However, the chain closure would often have to be moved to the back of the neck.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated!

For me, I prefer the fixed pendants as sometimes when I'm at the gym or want to spin my pendant around so it's not at the front of my neck then I can. It doesn't annoy me that it's not always straight but that might impact you depending on your lifestyle.

I am just the opposite - ha! My pendant slides and is always front and center as long as I am upright. The clasp in the back can move around some too but generally never enough to be bothersome. Hard to say what is right for someone else as you can see from these two differing opinions!

Thank you for your response and perspective!

Thank you for your reply and yes, this might be a 50/50 split.

I always had sliding pendants until my husband bought me a fixed necklace that I wanted. I still love it but it drives me bonkers. The chain is very thin and it twists, doesn’t sit in one spot and is sometimes all the way over to one side of my neck. I’m constantly having to take my finger and unwind it, it’s then I realize that it’s not actually a chocker. Haha.

It depends on your lifestyle and if it’s an everyday necklace or an occasional piece. Every day? Sliding for sure.

I definitely prefer slides. They stay centered no matter what I'm doing (and I'm never trying to move it to the back like @maryjane04). I am actually wearing my only fixed pendant today and have to keep adjusting it and was just looking around at slide type settings. I wear my slides much more than I do this fixed one.

I only have one fixed pendant, and it's made me realize I only want sliding from here on out. I hate the constant fussing with it.

I’m team sliding. The weight if the pendant, style and thickness of the chain, etc. are all factors, but in general I find sliding pendants stay more front and center vs. fixed, which tend creep off center.

I have a like 1.21 Ct as a sliding pendant. I prefer it to fixed. Fixed is always off center. I have both. Definitely like sliding better.

Thank you, definitely leaning sliding pendant based on feedback.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I suspected this might be the case with fixed pendants.

I prefer sliding: I had both sliding and fixed...got rid of the fixed pendant because it was always off center though the pendant wasn't light weight (it weighted about 5 grams).

I have a 1.6 ct bezel set fixed pendant necklace and it doesn't get off center, the weight of it with gravity keeps it at the bottom of the chain which is at the center of my neck. If I had a small pendant (like less than maybe .75 ct) then I think I'd want a slider because it just wouldn't weigh enough for gravity to keep it down and in place.

I think size/weight might be contributing to different people's experiences of whether their pendants migrate off center or not.
