Hello All

I am looking to buy a ruby ring. My budget is max 10K USD (would prefer on the lesser side but willing to spend more for a genuine piece). So far I have liked two: one from gemNY

Another from etsy:

I am not sure how good these are. Due to COVID, unable to go to store to buy one so I definitely prefer online options.
I am also a first time buyer and don't know much, looking for some expert advice on this. Please help.
Thanks a lot in advance!

There's so many colors for ruby. You should figure out what your ideal color is, and what treatments are acceptable to you. Unheated ruby is most expensive, but can be the most beautiful in my personal opinion. Gemfix is a good place to start of you're located in the US.

Thank you voce. I am in US. Will check this website. I am mainly interested in pigeon red color. What would be your thought on the above two?

I don’t think either of those look pigeon blood to me. Second one is likely to be very quite a bit too dark.

I wouldn’t be too hung up on the “pigeon blood” description if I were you. Vendors will call their stone that (with a lot of license) and you’ll end up overpaying just for that name. Find a colour you love regardless of what it’s called.

I'm not loving either of your choices. Neither looks pigeon blood red to me. The Gems NY one is the better stone, but looks to have a little orangish pink in the color. The Etsy one you're linking is just too dark and not saturated red enough. It'll just not look red red in low light settings.

This is one that looks to me like pigeon blood red. Hope you're not particular on the shape, because color wise this would be my pick.

I think (and i know squat about rubbies) you should look at lots - even if just to work out what you don't want

Thank you all for your valuable inputs.
I really don't know much about gemstones but looks like this forum has lot of good research. Will go thru that
Thanks again!
