if you own a beautiful blue sapphire ring that you'd like to get rid of to make room for another project, I'm interested.

I do not have any particular shape in mind other than a high quality piece of jewelry, with finely made setting and sparkly stones, particularly the melee.

I hope to find something beautiful pre-owned at a better price than what a similar piece would have been new.

Carat weight of the sapphire stone would ideally be between 2.5 and 3.5 though I am open to lower carat weight if the setting is substantial or to higher if the price does not become prohibitive.

The only thing I would like to avoid would be a light, flimsy setting. There is nothing I dislike more in rings than light metal weight. It must feel relatively hefty on the hand.

IMG_5875.JPG IMG_5877.JPG How about this one? Alittle over 3 cts. The sides are just under .25 each and are Gia certified d and e as I recall (maybe 23/24?). The mounting is platinum and was cad designed. A friend needs to sell it and has it on consignment at a local jewelry store (ny). IMO the stone is a tad light. Not ideal saturation, but quite beautiful. I can get more information if you think this ring might work.

Rocks,
I tried to PM but it doesn't look like this forum has such a function or I don't know how to find it.

This looks like a beautiful ring. The color appears quite excellent to my eyes and I love the platinum idea. It is very classic.

If all three stones sparkle their heads off (excellent cut) and the price is attractive, I would be interested in getting more information. I am not sure how the appraisal/authenticity issue would be addressed when buying from a private party. Does the ring come with any certificate of authenticity?
Thank you so much.

I'd be interested in some more photos of this ring, if you have them?

Also interested if it is indeed a little lighter than pictured (as you mentioned) and if it sapphiredream passes of course! I am in NYC so if it's anywhere in the boroughs, would love to see it. I'm on LT:

I'm not much of a photographer....

I helped put the ring together. the side stones are Gia certified. The center is heat only. I'll find out whether there is a term for the consignment, meaning how quickly I can get it back for photos. I've never sold on preloved, only purchased, so sorry for the lack of info.

Thank you, rocks.
I DO love this piece - it is an unapologetic classic that you can hardly go wrong with.
But cost would be a major determinant of whether I should pursue the custom route or go with this one.

Thank you again.

are you interested in a classic blue or are open to color change sapphires as well?

@sapphiredream. I'm waiting to hear back from the store about availability. Friend is hoping for $6000. I'll suggest removing the stone and sending it to agl for certification. though I don't think it is common for heated stones to be certified, I think it might give you the comfort you need.

Truth be told, I would buy it, save the fact that I already have a sapphire and diamond threestone....

Color change is fine too as long as it is not too much and it is vibrant.
I have to say I am not crazy about the Montana or Aussie type that seem to change towards gray.

A bit of color change from blue to purple (like tanzanite) is fine.

So I recently purchased this ring (around thanksgiving), but due to unforeseen circumstances have to (very sadly) consider selling it. I haven't worn it since receiving it.

Rocks,
Would you be able to ask your friend what are the exact dimensions of the center stone? And the diamonds if possible?

Malish,
The ring is very pretty. May I ask how much it weighs on the scale, overall?

I love that ring!

@sapphiredream sure can do!

Rocks - thank you.
Unfortunately, my budget is not very close to what your friend is hoping for so I am not sure it would work. If all looks good and she is interested, I could make an offer but she would probably feel it is too low. I know there are other people interested in this beautiful ring, so if what I can do doesn't work, maybe someone else will become the proud owner.

I'm not sure. I was told that the diamonds are about 1ct total weight (confirmed by my local jeweler to be VS2 G/H) and the sapphire is 2.8ct (per the certificate)

Have you got a link to the consignment listing? Or any more photos?

I am not sure how buying from private individuals normally works - but I wonder if it is customary to have a return policy.
It is SO difficult to predict how ANY piece of jewelry would look on oneself as opposed to the display or hand in the photo.
I have seen rings that appealed me to me from the vault like nothing else - but once the sales person took it out and I placed it on my hand...it was either a "meh" or an instant "no".

I love your ring picture, malish - but I am not sure how a halo with small round brilliants would end up looking on my hand. There are so many elements that cannot come across from a picture or video - size relative to wearer's hand, finger/nail shape, color, heftiness, etc.

So if anyone could describe their experience with private buying - it would be helpful.

No worries. Let's leave it for now. I have homework to do, so we can revisit. Enjoy!

If a ready made ring isn’t available, how do you feel about finding a stone you like and creating your own ring?

I am working on this in parallel too.
I just wanted to put this here just in case someone has the ring of my dreams to sell.

I'd love to know what happens to this beautiful ring!

What is your price range? That might help people search for what you are looking for. If you want a high quality 2.5-3.5 carat blue sapphire, that in itself is going to be a certain cost...

I've got a loose 2.13 unheated untreated blue sapphire I want to sell but it could be smaller than you are after.
