So I haven''t posted an update since we got my diamond (1.22 ct cushion G SI2) and I realized that the setting I thought I wanted wasn''t really what I wanted at all. Things got a little crazy there for a bit and I''m pretty sure I drove FF NUTSO by making him do the rounds of jewelry stores yet AGAIN to take another look at setting styles in person.

But then about two weeks ago, he finally put his foot down and said that from then on out he was going to take care of it all by himself and I was to have zero input! He said he knew what I liked, we already had the diamond, and now he wanted to take care of it alone. By this time our ring shopping journey had already been going on for several months and we are both getting a little tired of all of it and just want to be engaged!!! Plus I''ll admit, I am VERY picky and just about every setting we looked at (that was within budget) had *something* I didn''t like, so I''m basically driving myself nuts.. but oh well.

So last Saturday he comes home from work early, changes his clothes and tells me that he has to go run an errand. So of course I ask him about it and bug him and he tells me he''s going back to our original jeweler. So... While he''s gone I am of course so excited! There had been a week there between him deciding to take care of it all on his own and him showing any signs of actually doing anything, so I was soo excited that he actually had a plan!

So being the adorable, excited thing he is, the second he gets home (after almost 2 hours) he starts dropping hints about my ring, and me, being the nosy thing I am, take the bait and harass him until he agrees to tell me about it.

He''s having it custom made at the original jeweler we went to. When we were there a few weeks ago and discussing going custom, I asked to see pieces the owner had made and may I just say that I was extremely impressed! We got to see rings and necklaces and broaches that he handmade and all of them had such beautiful, intricate work. So I''m excited that he''ll be making my ring as well. It''s going to be modeled after the Tiffany Legacy (oh how original am I?

), but it''s a ring that I have always loved and was really comparing everything else to.

They said it would take 2-4 weeks. Does that sound right? For some reason that doesn''t seem like very much time at all, but today marks the end of week 1 so lets just HOPE I have less than a month left! It seems like I''ve been waiting FOREVER! And if I wasn''t so darn picky, I''d be engaged by now and I''d be able to actually start planning rather than just pretend planning. Haha. I actually bought my first bridal magazine last week because I''m getting soooo impatient.

Anyway, congratulations to anyone who got through this long post. I''m sure it''s not nearly as exciting to anyone else as it is to me, but I just wanted to share my progress because I love reading about everyone else''s on here!

As for the time frame for custom, I guess it depends on where you go and how backed up (or not) the jeweler is. I think the usual waiting time for Mark Morrell (who I hope to use) is about 6 weeks, and I think Leon Mege is similar (6-8 weeks, although sometimes he goes over), but they are probably going to be more busy than your average jeweler because they are in high demand.

Can''t wait to see pictures of your finished ring!

You''re getting so close! That''s very exciting.

Oh boy another sparkly on the way !!! Looking forward to your ring pics

That sound about right, you would seriously be surprised at HOW long a piece actually takes, for instance being quoted 6 wks doesn''t mean the piece takes 6wks to make it just within a timeframe for the business.

2-4wks sounds reasonable :) very exciting, enjoy the last of the wait :D

YAY! What a great update!

So exciting! You''ll have your sparkley before you know it I can''t wait to see pics of that baby!

That''s a fantastic update - it seems like your bf just needed to make an executive decision, and aren''t you happy he did?
