(4) Burma red spinel melee, 3mm each, from Yvonne Raley

I bought these a few weeks ago because I saw them and couldn't resist. They're gorgeous. But I had no good plan for them, and I continue to have no good plan for them. Never been set. Anyone interested?

Original listing description:
This is another really rare set of gems, I only have four pieces in this size. Burmese spinels, stopsign red, very bright, from Mogok, no treatment, brilliant cut, perfectly matched and calibrated. I would not say these are Jedi color because Jedi always has a pink overtone. These are very eye popping red, no modifier. Super nice gems, sold by the piece.

Measurements: 3mm average
Weight:.105 cts average per piece
Shape: Round Brilliant cut
Origin: Burma
Color: Red
Treatment: None
Per carat price: $1000
Price of gem: $105 each piece

My asking price:
$95 each, or $360 for all (4). Shipping within the US included.

Yvonne's listing photos err a touch pink compared to what I see IRL. Her description states "no pink modifier", which I feel is accurate in-person. These are just bright red. My photos below:

Pair of 5mm rubies, 1.10ctw

Purchased preloved from another PSer five years ago. I've never set them. They're fun little stones - I bought them for $95 and would be looking to recoup that cost ::)

$95 for the pair. Shipping within the US included.

3.16ct faceted rhodonite, from Lawson Gems

I purchased this a few months ago... I haven't a clue what to do with it. But I LOVE the colour - it is, to my eyes, the purest "red" that I've ever encountered. This material is not usually facetable, so this specimen is unusual in that regard.

Listing it only because I've committed to being better about using what I've got and keeping only what I plan to use, but... I'll be honest, I won't be terribly unhappy if this one doesn't find a new home.

My asking price:
$525, and shipping within the US included.

Note the feathering bottom right - this is surface-breaching. This material is delicate and needs careful setting and handling!!

I'm not going to be making LT listings for these - I've had a few... Let's call them strange... LT encounters recently, and I'm not really eager to invite more. PS, I know all y'all, posting here provides a baseline of sanity that I welcome

Edit - all together ::)

Hi @yssie, any additional info on the rubies? Natural, lab created, treatments, etc.? Thanks!

ETA: sent you an email..!

Lovely! Is the rhodonite safe to set and wear, or more of a collectors stone?

Rhodonite is right about where opal is on the Mohs scale (which is really more "scratchability" than "hardness" but it's familiar to all of us!). It's more brittle than many other gemstones, and it's rarely very clean, so can fracture - I would be comfortable having someone who is familiar with setting gemstones (ie. not just a diamond bench) set it into earrings or a pendant. It wouldn't be a great candidate for a ring or bracelet unless it's occasional wear, though.

I’m withdrawing the rhodonite and closing this thread :))

Just for fun - here she is against 24k brushed yellow gold. I’m loving this combo - they both glow when they catch the light just so... ::)
