Hello all I just recently got engaged and the help I received on this board was wonderful. My fiancé fell in love with her new ring and would like to say it’s definitely because of all the helpful people here. Anyway after seeing the ring on her finger I realized how beautiful her hands are and would like to get her another ring for her right hand. I vet been doing a little reading on sapphires and am interested in getting a pink sapphire (around 1ct) put into some type of white gold or silver setting. I don’t want to spend much and don’t know really where to look or what kind of setting would look good. Please help!!!!!

Hm... color makes pink sapphires expensive, and cut makes them beautiful regardless

Would you consider a custom cut pink sapphire ?

There are lots of qualities available - a much wider range is accepted than for diamonds - so 1ct pink sapphire could well be $100 or $5000. Not that the latter would really look 50 times better - there is always some ballance.

Also, sapphires are not cut as diamonds - much deeper stones are accepted and desirable due to the different phisical properties of the material. So a 1ct sapphire would be quite smaller than a 1ct diamond. Also, there is not so much of a 'price jump' at the 1 ct mark for these, but at a substantially larger weight.

What style is the e-ring? You might want to match the style somewhat, I guess

Always happy chatting stones, as you can see!

What is a custom cut pink sapphire? i got her a tiffany style setting. Very simple. She doesnt were any jewelry but the e- ring looks so good I wanted to her something pretty inexpesive for her other hand. i dont want an expensive setting just something simple and nice. Any other comments would be appreciated.

Custom cut sapphire... would just be one cut with a fair amount of precission, something one does not see often in colored stones. For lack of better explanation you might want to take a look at some average cuts (not at all bad, but nothing special in terms of cut, some on THIS list) and a set of precision cut stones (LINK). Not too many sapphires on the second site, but the stones reflect well the different look I wanted to point out. On the first, the 1.02 oval (Lot# SPK-00075) has good color...

It would be hard to tell about settings though, lots of options out there. Of course, any you might have inspected for the e-ring would work including tension rings. Personally, I like these allot, and to have a bridge setting (looking like tension but with a bridge supporting the sapphire) would be very simple. These are also available ready-made, if the size of the stone happens to match them.

Oh.. and pink, could also be pink spinel. There should be quite a bit of info and examples on those on the posts of "Mogok" here on the forum. The stones compare favorably with sapphire in hardness, color, brilliance and price... Not as popular and less frequently mentioned than sapphire - for no obvious reason but rarity and unresponsiveness to enhancement, I would think.
