I''ve had my sapphire lowered in the setting. You can''t see the culet now and it perhaps needs to be lowered a little more but it''s certainly wearable as it is now. The only thing I''m not happy about is that the prongs (instead of the skinny spiky ones I did have) are now rounded. So it may go back for a re-work in any case.

Yes, it probably does need a little lowering, but will it fit if you lower it more?

Yes it will. There''s still an air line so it could go down. Funnily enough it doesn''t feel sky high now so I may wear it for a while and see. Thanks for your comments TL.

I think that looks better. Does it look any different from the top? I guess it shouldn''t but maybe it has less space between the stone and the setting? Is the look the same?

Good question. Actually it looks exactly the same. Here''s a couple of photos so you can see.

You can see the air line in this one.

Just my honest opinion: I think its still high, but see what you can live with. If you like your stones high set, and the airline dosen''t bother you, then leave it as is. The airline would drive me bonkers.

If I were you I''d rework it, but I have a preference for low-set stones. I wouldn''t be happy unless I cut the distance from the inner halo to the crown by about 1/2 based on your pictures. Beautiful stone and setting BTW!

LD- Beautiful Ring and Sapphire!!! it does look a bit high still, but it depends if you are comfortable with the height and it makes you happy then keep as is, but since you asked...I''m thinking you may still want it lowered?

Thank you all for your comments.

I''ve been wearing the ring for a week or so now and I have to say that it looks higher in the photos than it looks/feels on my hand. I''m going to stick with it as it is because I''d be worried that lowering it will not let the light in and the beautiful blue of the sapphire will darken.

The one thing I''ve been very impressed with is that in all lights this sapphire looks good. Even at its darkest it still looks bright so all round, I''m thrilled!
