If anyone has one of the 8/9 carat or the unicorn 1 carat round white stone from lightbox, I've been waiting for over a year for the 1 carat and kept passing on the 8/9 every time it came in stock hoping the 1 carat would be released, now it's getting closer to my wedding and I'm starting to panic that they may not bring the 8/9 carat back in stock before I need it. If you have one and would be willing to sell, please let me know!

Agh, yeah, I saw and I immediately put .5 and .75 into diamdb to see if it would be worth it. I'm nervous that it won't be enough since I really wanted 1ct and already .88 was a compromise. I'm undecided.

Have you checked out Takara lab diamonds' stock? There's a 0.80ct for $680: https://betterthandiamond.com/produ...ara-Super-Ideal-Hearts-and-Arrows-Rounds.html

Interesting. I wonder if I would be able to notice the difference in quality between this and the Lightbox. The one on BTD is a D SI1, vs G VVS from Lightbox. So the BTD is a little smaller (.8 instead of .88 ), whiter, more included, and who knows on cut since LB doesn't give you those details. Do you know how returns work if I get it and don't like it?

There's a 0.76 at BTD that has better proportions than the 0.80 and is $646. I'm just nervous that it'll be too small and I'll want bigger again. I really wanted to be at or close to 1 carat and never upgrade again.

I think it is worth it to go for the super ideal cut from BTD and hold out for 1 carat or something that is very nearly that. If you settle for something smaller now given the wedding time crunch I'm really afraid you will regret it later. I completely understand wanting to have the upgrade for your big day, but in the long run/big picture the wedding is a little bit of an artificial deadline when it comes to picking your hopefully forever stone. Speaking from personal experience, I've rushed big diamond purchases in the past and wasted WAY more money than I care to count :(

The only reason I have the wedding as a deadline is because I want to pick a wedding ring that complements the size of my ultimate engagement ring. If I end up staying with the .5, then I would want much smaller diamonds on my wedding ring than if I end up with a .8 or 1 carat engagement ring. One idea I'm playing around with is getting a cheaper stone in the size I want (CZ would look more diamond like, but moissanite would be less maintenance/not have to take it off when I shower etc) and having that set into the new rose gold setting I want, and then replacing it with a diamond later whenever LB releases a one carat round, or if I find a great deal later elsewhere. The setting would then be the right size to accommodate another stone in a similar size. My current setting is the wrong metal and also too small to accommodate a 1 carat.

Can you pick a slim, small (inexpensive) plain band to actually get married with, then decide all the diamond stuff later?

Saw these on a quick search. Maybe they are eye clean? I didn’t run HCA since that doesn’t seem to be the priority.

This has probably been written about before and I just haven't read it but I'm a bit concerned about the latitude in carat weight with the Lightbox diamonds; particularly when a person is aiming for a particular carat size. For example, they're upfront that the size can vary:

1/20.450.57
3/40.690.79

I haven't purchased from BTD before, so I'm not sure how returns would work. I do believe they get more inventory every once in awhile, and there was a time a month or so ago, that I saw a 0.91ct for ~$800ish.

The photographer will take detail photos of my rings with shoes etc that morning, and I would like them to be my final actual rings. I would not pay to have her take those detail photos later and it would be kind of ridiculous to do that anyway.

Thanks I'll check these out!

Yeah, the one I ordered was 1/2 and when I had it removed the jeweler weighed it and it was exactly .5. I don't think I would be too worried about the .05 difference either way.

Looked into their return policy and you just cover shipping so that would be worth trying if I think I find one that looks like the a good deal. If you order multiple stones with the intention of returning, they charge you a restocking fee though.

Did u see that August vintage is listing Takara lab diamonds with all features now , I saw that is the lab diamond section!

I think this is a great idea, you know you’ll find a diamond at some point, it just needs to pop up (and it will, you’re looking for something eminently achievable). The only thing to think about is whether the setting has some latitude for different carat weights if you’re not totally certain What you’ll end up with. I’d go cz - save the moissy money for the diamond. You don’t need to take cz off in the shower, btw.

I thought showering with CZ would make it look awful much faster?

This is new on BTD today... Size: 0.91ct 6.27mm-6.30mm X 3.75mm D SI2 $773.50 cert 9002396. Almost want to pull the trigger but kinda want to wait a few weeks and see if something closer to 1ct or even a little bigger comes available in this price point. I wasn't even checking it until you brought it up here and now I'm feeling like this might be my ticket.

I'm curious if this diamond would look smaller due to having a bad cut. Can you tell the cut just based on those measurements or do you need the full certificate? This particular one doesn't have the certificate listed on the website, I guess you have to contact them to get it.

Be sure to check out Bloomingdales.com's LB inventory, as sometimes they have products in-stock that are sold out on LB's website!

Oh cool I didn't know they were selling them! Currently nothing big enough but I'll keep an eye out. I'm actually leaning towards the stuff at BTD now, even better price than LB. I asked for the full measurements so I can run it through HCA and get some feedback here too. But $773 for .9 carat even beats LB, and they said the inclusions on this particular SI2 cannot be seen without a loupe.

No, it’s fine, you may just need to clean it (as you would need to clean a diamond). as an example, I‘ve had one travel ring and I live to wash my hands, only stopping to use hand sanitizer. I have a second travel ring (bought at the same time in case I lost the first as somewhat alarmingly the style was a near perfect replica of my e ring) that I put away when I bought the first in case I lost the first, and comparatively the first has some scratches (from being eg thrown in my purse with keys) but nothing from extensive water and soap.

I think cz looks more diamond like than moissanite, plus it will save you money. If you can't pull the trigger now, I would get a cz (I like Wink's cz as well as berricle) in sterling/vermiel in a look as close as you can to what your e ring will look like, and get a wedding band that looks good with that! Then you can switch the cz ring for the diamond ring at your leisure. Much less stress and no setting/resetting costs, plus people do not look at the portrait with a magnifying glass to measure whether the stone is .10 carat different or whatever.

The light box 1 ct is available right now on their website. The 7/8 ct white with 1/8 blue is also available. Good luck!

I don't see a round white 1 carat that's not pierced. Do you have a link? I'll cancel the one I ordered if it's available.

I don’t see it either! But I think you might be happy with the 7/8th carat!!! It’s so close to an actual carat!

I looked and they have 1 carat blue and 3/4 white solitaire round necklace

The one carat is including the small pink or blue stone.
