Phew! I needed a lucky break :)

There is this fantastic restaurant a mile from our house that FI and I love to go to and they have a lovely upstairs martini bar that also boasts a private room in the back. It has couches and tables and piped in satellite music etc. Just a really swanky space. We had looked at it way back when but they have a $500 f/b minimum for private functions and we doubted we could afford that. Plus, with us wanting to do a lunch rehearsal instead, we knew $500 was just too much for pizza, nachos, and salads!

But I called them up anyway today feeling a bit bummed that I can''t find a good and affordable place in which do this party in (AND the whole thing with my guitarist is ticking me off a bit) to find out if there is anyway that if we promise to be out by 5pm (and they could presumably double book for that night) that they could help us out with the minimum.

She very happily said "sure"!!!

We can now use that space from noon-5pm for free and have no f/b minimum and she''s waiving the deposit because our f/b amount will probably be only about $200-$300.

I am releived and happy that we can now host a rehearsal lunch and not have to ask folks to bring thier own chairs to a park etc. (altho we may ask them to do that anyway as we kinda want to plan some beach-y activities after lunch....but that''s completely different than asking them to bring a chair so they can EAT....I see this now

So, yay!!!! I guess it doesn''t hurt to ask questions like this :) I never thought she''d go for it!

YAY!!! That sounds like a perfect solution. Bet you''re glad you made the effort to negotiate!!

That is wonderful! You sound like I felt when deciding to get a florist and deciding against the way-too-difficult-for-me iced sugar cookies! Sometimes things do fall into place as they should.

Are you still going w/the Spanish theme even w/o the guitarist?

I''m glad it worked out for you!!

Thank you, enbcfsobe, dixie, and zoebartlett :) I was actually able to finally order rehearsal invites! I went with vista print because I had a 25% off coupon anyway and I got the cutest flat cards done up (w/matching envelopes) for a bit less than $20! And that included shipping :) So, I''m a happy camper

Dixie~ Yeah, the guitarist drama..........he still hasn''t responded to my last email so now it''s been a full day. I''d feel foolish waiting for him if I didn''t already just about have my entire ceremony playlist ready to go

But as it stands, I feel like I''m in a good position either way. He calls and agrees on the previous price, then at least I have a choice. He doesn''t call or tells me ''no way'' then no way it is! I''ve got a back up that I like just as much

I can probably still incorporate some lovely spanish songs played by a classical guitar on my playlist so I really don''t think I''m loosing too much. Well, except what I can only assume would have been gorgeous live acoustic guitar being played in a garden

But let me not dwell..............I still want white sangria at my cocktail hour and can change my mind about the BMs holding fans any second.

The paella may be the only thing I may rethink (again, right?!). It''s tough to find good paella at restaurants even so I''m really doubtful my caterer just so happens to make the kinda dish I would love. Jury''s still out on that one. If I go back to a pasta station at least I know no one can really mess up pasta. But having it would definitley enhance my "theme". But not if it sucks, right?!

And I didn''t catch it at the time........but you decided against doing cookies entirely? Not even the chocolate ones? If you canceled that idea, do you have new ones to replace them? Have I mentioned lately how much FUN wedding planning is????

So Happy, I''m glad you happened to bring up VistaPrint b/c I forgot all about them. I initially ordered address labels from them for the rsvp cards and the invitations but never thought about them for rehearsal invites. I just ordered mine too! I really like them, go the ability to personalize them and print directions on the back of the card for free. Yay!! Thanks!

I hope the guitarist responds and follows through, but you''re right, even if he doesn''t, you can still play the music and will have a wonderful day!

I think if you decide on the paella, great! But if not, pasta is just fine and one of my favorite things to eat so I''m sure no one will be disappointed. Plus, they won''t even know about the potential of paella so it wouldn''t be missed by any guests.

I am doing the choc. cookies. We made them yesterday. Yum!!!

I also froze some cookies to try next weekend and froze some dough to make in 2 weeks. I''m excited about having those cookies and they really are sooo easy to make!

I am realizing that as the day comes closer, my list grows longer! I know all of my big stuff is done but geez, there is so much little stuff!
