Lurker no more!

Hi all!

Finally screwed up my courage and joined after lurking for a few months. I found out about this site through my roomie, who used to lurk here too!

My boy and I have been together for 2 years as of Dec. 6, and we were great friends for a few years before that, so we''re definitely ready. We went ring shopping a couple of times, the latest time was only a couple weeks ago, and he implied he wouldn''t wait too long to propose! (The first time was a while ago, and we ended up having an argument over a misunderstanding that made him think that *I* think that you shouldn''t go shopping unless you are LIKENOWREADY to propose! He didn''t realize that MY "soon" was giving him like 6 months or more leeway, because when he heard me say "soon" he thought I meant immediately, and that I was upset he hadn''t proposed yet. When really I was referring to the relatively distant future.)

I don''t think that makes sense!!! Sorry

Anyway, I am pretty sure he''ll propose by Christmas, if not by Thanksgiving. I feel like I know so many of you already from my lurker habits, and I hope to have fun with you here in LIW and then in BWW!!!

I''m going crazy wondering when it will be, while trying to appreciate our relationship for what it is before the stress of wedding planning kicks in... and I know I''m not alone!!

Welcome Katy! I too lurked for a few months before joining...PS is ridiculously addictive!!!

And yes, you did make sense when describing your different interpretations of ''soon''...but for many LIWs, it''s often the opposite! It''s the SO that thinks ''soon'' is 6 months or longer down the line, not the LIW!!!

Hope your stay is short and sweet (sounds like it might be)!!

It''s funny - sammyj is right.. most of us LIW are thinking that "soon" means the immediate future.. not 6 months or later

Isn''t ring shopping for the first time just so much fun!! I think that was my favorite time in the waiting process. I felt like it was finally real.

Anyway I hope you enjoy your stay here...If you think he might propose by Thanksgiving you don''t have too much longer to wait!! I think 6 days! That could possibly set a record here on LIW.

Haha, we actually found one we both loved the last time we went! I would show you a picture, but it''s pretty unique and I haven''t found a good way to describe it yet without making it sound... less beautiful

So hopefully soon enough I''ll have pictures for you! He said it wouldn''t be too long... so I''m hoping that he wasn''t kidding when he said it..
