Hello ladies--

I know some of you have used MAC make-up for your wedding day. I have a few questions, did you have a MAC make-up artist come to your location or did you go to the store? Also, what kind of price tag is there on wedding day make-up and how long did it take to do? Did you do a trial run and did you like it? I've also heard great things about Bobby Brown...thoughts?

The person who will be doing my hair is trying to convince me to do airbrush make-up but I'm skeptical. I have my hair appointment at 9am which should take a few hours. I figured that if I'm required to go to a MAC store to get it done that would give me plenty of time to get my hair done and make up and still be able to make it to the country club.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

i would suggest just doing a trial and going from there.
i believe you have to set up an appt. and spend $40 in makeup for a free trial.
our mac counter doesn''t offer airbrush, but i would definitely have tried it if it had.

They have actually bumped it up to $50 for a free trial and we don''t have a counter that will come and do make up.. At least I don''t think. Let''s hope they do some time soon - that would be fantastic!

blondie - I''m planning on using a MAC artist for my wedding day. What I did was called the MAC counter at the nearest mall and asked if there was anyone who would come to the house the day of the wedding. The answer was yes, and I have the trial in a few weeks (at the store though). Assuming I like her, she will come to the house the morning of and do my makeup and BM''s if they choose. She charges $125 for me. $50 for each girl. And it''s $50 for the trial (product purchase). So it''s not cheap, but i LOVE MAC make-up and have never been disappointed when I''ve had my make-up done there.

Hope that helps!

My FSIL did airbrush for an event we just attended. I did a mac trail the weekend before, paid attention and did my own makeup with product I bought (eye shows a brush and powder, plus a blush from another line). I looked great, my make up stayed on from 5pm till 2 am without moving (except for the lipstick). Of course, I was sick so I was on antibiotics so my skin was completely clear, so that made a difference. I would do a trail of the mac, they have lovely products it's no hardship to buy. Then if you aren't happy. Try the airbrush.

I used Laura Mercier eyeshow primer. (basic I always own)
3 Mac eye shadows (with a Macbrush)
A Bobbi Brown Blusher
A Mac powder
Nars lipstick (basic I always own)
Drug store (True Match) foundation and an Almay Lipliner. (basic I always own)
I used Body Shop liquid eye liner (brown) (basic I always own)
And Estee Lauder Lengthening mascara. (basic I always own)

I used MAC for my wedding and also for my cousin''s wedding in which I was the flower girl.

For my cousin''s wedding in NY we went to a MAC store, but for mine I just went to a mall counter because we don''t have MAC stores in Pittsburgh.

I loved my makeup both times, but loved it the most from the store.

The store charged a flat rate ($50 I think) and it included a free mascara. Eyelashes were extra and there was no trial unless you wanted to pay the $50 again.

The counter just required that I buy $40 in makeup and they did a free trial for me.

I really love MAC makeup and highly recommend it.

Thank you ladies for all of your replies.

Robbie, since you went to the MAC counter for your wedding day, how long before the ceremony did you get your make-up done and did it stay on all night?

Also, I want to buy eyelashes as well. Which is better to use, the full or half? and do you know how much they cost?

I think my appointment was at noon and the ceremony started at 5. I think it stayed on really well. I was kinda sweaty and oily by the end of the night, but my makeup was definitely still there. Not quite as fresh looking as when it was first applied, but a million times better than when I come home from work on a normal day. I can''t remember if they used any primer or anything underneath. I''ve heard great things about model in a bottle which you spray over your finished makeup before mascara though. You might want to get that and ask them to use it to give it that extra staying power.

At my trial they used the half lashes. I loved the way they looked when my eyes were open, but I felt like when my eyes were closed it was obvious to me where the lashes started and ended since they stopped in the middle . I ended up going with 7''s (full lashes). I really wanted 4''s (I think that''s what they were) which were the full version of the half lash because it was a bit softer and wispier, but they were out of them (I called almost every store in the country lol) because they were repackaging all of the lashes. I believe they also came out with some new styles when they repackaged them.

The lashes cost the same at the counter as they do online, so they should be $11 and that counts towards the money you have to spend.
