I have what is probably a redundant question, but I searched the archives & couldn''t find any references to it...

It is now time for the first 6 month checkup on my ring. Paul bought my Diamond at one jeweler, and we got my pave set eternity band at another. So I want to have both the center stone checked & the dozens of small stones checked in the eternity band. Which jeweler do I go to to get them all checked out? Does it even matter?

Paul seems to think that the jeweler who sold us the center stone would be unwilling to check the eternity band, and I am more inclined to think that the ones who sold us the eternity band may not check the center stone, because that was a much larger purchase and one we did not buy from them...thought they were the ones who set the center stone into the band. Is this even something I should be worrying about? Should I just take to either one? Or do you think two trips are going to be necessary? It seems like checking the pave would be more labor intensive than checking the one center stone.

Sorry for rambling on, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Any competent jeweler can check it out for you, it's more a question of what they will charge. Most stores will do check-ups on their own sales for free, but I've known plenty of jewelry stores that will do check-ups, cleaning and buffing for free simply in hopes of gaining you future business. Me, I'd just go to the place that's more convenient, unless you have some reason not to want to go back there.
