I need your help fellow CS comrades! What do you all think of this 3-stone combo in 18K (YG or RG) simple trellis setting? As the cut of the stones are already quite busy I will prefer a cleaner setting. Yay or nay? Please by all means give me your honest two cents whether this project will turn out well!

Stats of the stones (all 3 stones are Portuguese cut):

2.18ct Greenish Yellow Mali garnet from Jim McCormick (8.8mm x 7mm x 5mm)
1.32ct Tanzanite pair from Jeff D (5.4mm each)

These are the settings I have in mind...I also can't decide between the butterfly styled trellis or the classic styled trellis..

Sorry I have no idea why the second pic of the stones keep getting uploaded though I selected another pic! Anyways, here's the profile of the butterfly styled trellis with the inverted curve (securing the center stone) instead of a smooth line in the classic styled one above.

I like the combination of blue and yellow, and if they were mine, I too would keep the setting simple, and here are the settings I have in mind:

This is my own 3-stone ruby diamond ring:

My fingers are fat and chubby, and chunkier settings suit me, and I do not like prong/claw settings.

However, all the above is personal preferences, of course.

Good luck with your project and I look forward to seeing the finished article as it will be lovely.

DK

I like the colour combo, are you setting it in yellow or white gold?

dk, thanks for the inspiration pics! I used to prefer dainty delicate pieces but now after wearing my bezelled garnet for awhile, i am skewing towards more hefty pieces! i don't know they just feel more solid and good when you have them on!

I will keep these 2 pics in my inspiration folder for future projects as i am thinking of a more open (as opposed to enclosed/bezelled) setting cause i really enjoy seeing the Mali's gorgeous dispersive sparkles lol! So i was thinking an enclosed setting may restrict its playtimes

Thank you Lovinggems! I love looking at your completed pieces too especially your VC pink spinel ring! This is my first colored 3-stone ring and any thoughts on it will be deeply appreciated! I was thinking of setting it in either yellow or rose gold as I'm not sure if white gold may wash out some saturation of the stones? What do you think?

Thanks bling_prism, glad you like my rings, I too love looking at all the beautiful pieces on PS! I like the idea of yellow gold. Maybe place the stones next to different colour metals and see what you prefer?

Hi Lovinggems,

Upon your advice, I placed the stones next to the 2 different metals and i think i like it with YG more! :twirl:

Bling_prism I can't wait to see the finished ring, you have a knack for creating beautiful and bold combination.

Thank you for your kind words Lovinggems! I truly enjoy being part of this community and I'd be sure to post pics of this completed project! :P
