Mom has been working on making my gorgeous wedding dress for about two months now. I had a first fitting last week, and she made some adjustments and had me try on the gown again last night for a second fitting. She is doing an amazing job, especially since we changed the top on the dress and deviated from the original pattern.
Our starting point: a Theresa LaQuey '30s inspired Simplicity design
The fabric Mom chose is a white crepe backed satin that she threw in the washing machine before cutting - it is soooooo soft! The dress is formfitted to the knee and then flares to a paneled train. Over the skirt, there will be a beautiful beaded silk netting with a scalloped edge. Mom is going to have a challenge fitting that onto the train, but she is amazing and I know she can do it. The top will have a gathered neckline, and Mom is putting some of the appliques from the skirt overlay onto the front and back of the dress where the cap sleeves attach, and right in the center of the bust where it gathers.
I have all my accessories on in these photos. I found silver, pearl and rhinestone earrings and a matching necklace to wear with it from Eve's Addiction. I have while silk peeptoe/cutout pumps with rhinestones on them, and I have a hair flower from Etsy to wear for the reception. The faux fur wrap is from Silk and Sable. The last thing to get or make is my veil. I'm thinking simple, no beading, kind of like what Chelsea Clinton just wore for her wedding.
Who's ready for pictures? Please excuse the poor bathroom lighting and my hair - went swimming and airdried!
Me and my fabulous mother:
The back - zipper will go in last because I am losing inches:

Closeup of netting, hemming not done yet:
Faux fur wrap and all my vintage glam accessories:

My favorite - the back and train:
One point under booty bustle:
The gown looks more and more amazing with every fitting. I can't wait to see it completed! I get to wear this in only 79 days!
