Hi Marlow. You know a lot of different online CS vendors. For example, you recently linked a stone in another thread from sedagems.com, a vendor I've never come across.

Could you please list a few website off the top of your head worth checking out? It's always fun browsing. Especially sites that you think are trustworthy and have good return policies and customer service. Maybe some PSers will buy from there and they could be added to the trusted vendor's list.

Liao, you probably know some too.

If anyone for that matter knows a CS vendor with an online presence that isn't known here, please post a link, I'd love to look through their website :read:

Thanks.

I "discovered" Sedagems TODAY!!! :D

He is active in another forum - there was an interesting topic and I google Sedagems and liked it - I discovered this spinel ( there are many nice ones by the way...) and remember RandG.

Of course my number one vendor is Uli Zeisberg - Osirisgems - a friend of mine and one of the most skilled custom cutter I know!

Coast to Coast ( www.rarestone.com ) is a top vendor too!

I buy the most stones in gemshows course I get a much better price and we have enough during the year. Most of these vendors have no internet shop. But they know me for years.
I stopped Ebay course I hate censorship! I see "no items" in shops from Thailand for example.

Many here are ( and this is good) very picky ( color and cutting - window, bow tie....) - I don't care for it if the stone is interesting, rare or unusual.

But I learned that this is important for you course you want to create a perfekt piece of jewellery - so a new world for me but it is o.k.!!!

And Liao,

it would be nice if you post some gems out of your collection - not only jade :appl: :appl:

I can't speak for all PSers but I think in general we are a picky bunch. Definitely ;)) Unfortunately where I live there are no decent gem shows. Every now and then there's a nice exhibition in a museum. I wish I could see more CS in real life. When I was in Munich I went to a modest mineral museum, lots of emeralds (from many locations, including Russia -- I didn't know Russia produced emeralds), calcite, quartz, tourmaline and gold specimens. They had a nice bright orange wulfenite crystal. It was interesting.

And Liao, I'd like to see some of your stuff too, if it's not to much trouble.

Again, if anyone knows vendors beyond what we know on PS, please link them. :))

Yes - it is a real problem if there are no gemshows around. Without Munichshow maybe I was never collecting gems.

Sure. I will pick up a 4.7ct cab pink taaffeite next monday, and I will post it a pic of it. If I have time and able to capture a good pic, I will post an alexandrite I obtained before the 'alexandrite rush' in Brazil. it rivals tino hammid famous alex :naughty: it changes from royal blue (vB6/4) to true ruby red (R5/4)

I remember you mentioned that alex once. Ughhhhh, the Brazilian stuff coming out now doesn't even have red, and prices are always rising. I'm excited to see that, thanks.

Nowadays, I do not think there is any alex mine that produce red change alex. The best I have seen are several 'hot' pink change alex from tanzania and brazil.

most of the time, I do not deal with gem dealer because they rarely carry high/rare quality stones. However, these three are the most trustworthy dealer I know.

http://www.veerasakgems.com/content.php -> if you are looking for high quality ruby, and this dealer cannot find what you are looking for, then sotheby and christie auction will be your last chance of finding what you are looking for
http://www.novel-collection.com/ -> fancy diamond
http://www.yavorskyy.com/ -> Heaven for spinel collector. you can buy his book

Thanks.

Here are a couple that I have come across that I didn't see on the recommended vendor list. Forgive me if they are there and I overlooked them.

http://www.customfacetor.com
This is Grey Weaver's site. He used to sell his gems on the Master Cut Gems site, but it looks like he is selling from his own site now.

http://customgemcutter.com
I had seen Matt Dunkle mentioned for custom cutting in a older post and when I looked up his site saw that he has gems for sale on the site too.

That is really well saturated for taafeite. What's your favourite lab btw?

You have a report??

the stone is translucent. I cannot argue with the color, but it has a lot of inclusion :(sad . I will try to get a better pics later, but I will not post any gemstone cert in the internet. I had a bad experience with it.

yes - the color is very special - otherwise a taaffeite cabochon is not really interesting.
