Marquise cut colored stone rings? I would love to see them!

Marquise-cut stones don't seem to be as popular as ovals, cushions, pears, etc, or at least PSers don't post them as often as other shapes. Does anyone have a colored-stone marquise ring they would like to show off? I would love to see them!

TIA,
Erin

I second the request, especially any that are East/West...

Here is my favorite--Portia de Rossi's engagement ring. I would love to see a similar setting with a colored stone!  Just not sure which jeweler could do this?

Here is another pretty celebrity east-west set marquise ring:

I love this one set east/west. I think those little diamond dangles would be so much fun! (Of course this is from someone who just HAD to have a Chopard happy diamond watch so I could watch the spinning diamonds_LOL)

Here's a few - with the exception of the Ruby, I don't like any of the settings:-

1st row: Tanzanite (poor quality) - Tanzanite (ok)
2nd row: Padparadscha sapphire (debatable whether this should be called Padparadscha) - Blue Tourmaline
3rd row: Alexandrite (not good quality) - Ruby

I really love the marquise cut for colored stones but for some reason haven't seen a lot of them.

Here's my zircon cut by Gene and set by JKT:

I recently let go of a colored stone marquise, a spinel. I was going to set it in a necklace after contemplating a ring (tapered baguettes) for a long time. I figured I had too many spinels that were close in color already.

I dream of this ring, by Maevona, with a bright blue stone, maybe an agate or blue zircon.

I have a lovely 1.98 ct. marquise yellow sapphire (heat ONLY) that I have not yet set. I was going to set it with my matched .88 ctw pear-shaped rubies, in high-carat yellow gold, but I'm not sure how to set matched pear rubies and a yellow sapphire marquise in an E-W setting.

All of this is hypothetical, too, until I can sell my old house. Once I unload the old house, it will be time to reach into the happy box of loose gems and do some setting!!! :cheeky:

I love the Maevona jewelry! Nice find!

Sorry about the misplaced picture  --that last one is a Cathy Waterrman marquise ring.

The Maevona design breathes a totally updated feel for marquise stones.

Chrono, you always have such a great way of putting things :) Maevona is my favorite designer.

erini, I love that Cathy Waterman ring also. A friend of mine has an engagement ring from her, it's so organic and lovely.

Wanted to add also this fantastic E/W marquise ring posted by MAchick. Again sorry, not a colored stone, but one of the best marquise settings I've ever seen.

So Chrono,

You don't happen to have a fabulous marquise colored-stone in your collection? I would love to see the magnificent design you would come up with!

MAchick's ring is beautiful!

Re: Marquise cut dolored stone rings? I would love to see th

I have never cared for Marquise, because until now, I had largely seen those 70's-style, mall-type engagement rings set N/S. These rings, however, open my eyes to huge possibilities. I have shortish hands, so setting a marquise E/W with a beautiful setting would be the bee's knees!

Re: Marquise cut dolored stone rings? I would love to see th

Ah....that gorgeous Greenlake setting is spectacular, isn't it?

No, I haven't a single marquise setting but all these pictures are certainly tempting me to get one and have it set E/W. Yes, I have short stubby fingers and child sized hands if set this way, will have the bee's knees too.

Bryan-- that ring is lovely!

If Mike Robinson is reading this thread, I would love to see any of your marquise designs! :naughty:

I just found this setting-- what do you think a colored stone would look like in it :Up_to_something:

Re: Marquise cut dolored stone rings? I would love to see th

Ok, call me old fashioned, but I think a N-S marquise can look so elegant and slimming. Of course, there are plenty of dated settings but I wouldn't discard N-S completely.

Re: Marquise cut dolored stone rings? I would love to see th

Lady_Disdain,

I would agree, a well-proportioned N-S marquise setting is beautiful--such as this one:
