License to Wed!
BF and I watched it last night.
What we commented on and how we reacted to one another:
1) He doesn''t want to get married in a church - fine with me! It''s never been a dream thing for me so it''s fine that that idea goes out the window. (besides, he''s catholic, I''m not... and I''m not religious so converting just for the sake of a wedding in a church just doesn''t sit well with me. unless he truly wanted to get married in a church, then i''d do it!)
2) Small wedding with only closest friends and family or a destination wedding w/ just the two of us. - Also fine with me. I''ve never wanted a big wedding and why would I invited family/friends who I never see? No point in that!
3) He said ''3 years sounds good to me'' when the characters in the movie were trying to pick a date for the wedding and they only had an opening for 2 years from the date. (And while saying the 3 years thing he kept eyeing me, waiting for a reaction from me, so I THINK he was kidding, lol.) - Not cool with me. - So I replied with ''no, 2 years AT MOST'' and he smiled a little and said ''okay, 2 years'' with a nod. hehe.
4) I commented how when he does propose that after the second I have that beautiful, shiny ring on my finger, I wouldn''t immediately start planning the wedding. You know, the when, where, etc. I''d first wait to have a discussion about WHEN we''d like this wedding to take place. (Unlike in the movie... she just kinda jumps to it RIGHT after he proposes w/ out even discussing when first... I mean, immediately!) - He agreed and said he wants us to have time to enjoy being engaged first, then decide when to have the wedding. And he doesn''t want to have to rush to get things in order for it, so a couple years would be good. Plenty of time. - Agreed.
There were other random scenes in which we both commented on how we would have done it... of course we know it''s just a movie... but it''s just fun to get each others perspective on things. I felt as though I walked away from watching that movie with a lot of information about what I, myself, want and what he wants, that I didn''t know before.
