I got the Tiffany Christmas catalogue today and I thought you would enjoy the FCD eye candy. They don't include carat weights and it says to call for pricing so I can only imagine!

I wonder if they're irradiated . . .

My first thought!

Have you checked their site? They'll post prices on that. I've seen a 1ct blue on there for like $700k

maybe a little laser drilling too.

I'll take both greens. Oh heck, throw in the blue too.

They need to come up with some new ideas in setting their stones as they are so...well, predictable and stodgy. Ho hum, who else has some colored diamond rings to offer? as, **heavy sigh** I would totally get one, but these just don't cut it for me. :saint:

just a moment ago I saw a commercial advertising Kay as the destination for FCDs!!!

Lol sorry I thought you guys would appreciate some nice FCD's regardless of where they came from...

I love the green one at the top part of the page. And of course the pink.

No apologies. I like to see it!

It's a mixed blessing to be sure. We love the FCDs, but the extent of the treatments that TIffany thinks is acceptable, and the disclosure of which they make hard to find. and in ultra fine print to boot, makes their jumping on the FCD bandwagon amusing. Equally amusing to see Kay is running neck and neck with them. With these last auctions FCDs have gotten a lot of press and crazy valuations. This advertising push hawking (treated) stones will likely make the untreateds that most of us would want go up more than commensurately.

HI:

Thanks--I got my catalogue yesterday and admired many!!! I love Tiffany but might be alone here.

Although Tiffany "colourless" diamonds no longer have GIA certs and therefore use their own lab...does that include colored diamonds as well? I only suppose those who would buy gems/diamonds of this consequence might be informed to inquire after treatments, etc....or yanno have someone, otherwise, ask. Transparency would be at the fore. No?

cheers--Sharon

Heck, I didn't even think about the treatments - and probably should; I was just thinking that as one of the leading jewelry stores in the world, one would think that they'd have some unique twists and new designs from time to time. But then again, I guess they think if it ain't broke...

Don't get me wrong, if someone handed me a big fat Tiffany diamond ring, I wouldn't complain...really I wouldn't! :naughty:

I enjoyed the catalog and this thread. Thank you TS.

I'm surprised by some of the questions in this thread :o but I can say I do not believe Tiffany's colored diamonds have been treated or laser drilled. You can find out treatments in the carebook.

Well I for one enjoy the photos for what they are, pretty photos of pretty gems and great inspiration (if that's your style). I personally have always loved their style, simple and streamlined. I didn't know they enhanced their stones, that PDF was an eye opener. I guess I figured (like a lot of consumers) that a store like that wouldn't be selling stones that are treated in any way (except for maybe really basic stuff like heated tanzanite or oiled emeralds).

Just another reason why I'm glad I found this site. I'll keep going to Tiffany's to shop for china, crystal, and a few other patented designs (they created them they deserve the credit). But for diamonds and gemstones they're going to be inspiration only from now on.

The colours of the FCDs look unnatural; could be enhanced by photoshop.

Or just an artifact of offset printing, since the photos OP uploaded are rastered, veloxed or halftoned on a printed page, not a "photograph". I tried to see them on their website, but all I found was a light blue diamond set in a sea of rose cuts.

VL,
Yes, a possibility as well.
