It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important...please
take the time and do it really quick!
Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill - Important legislation for all
women.
Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there
was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard,
this is one of those times. If you are receiving this it''s because
I think you will take the 30 seconds to go and vote on this issue
and send it on to others you know who will do the same.
There''s a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act
which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-
hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It''s
about eliminating the "drive-through mastectomy" where
women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the
wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and
sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a
petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the
House signed on.

I don''t want to burst your bubble, but online petitions carry no legal weight at all. There''s no way to prove that a single person didnt generate every "signature". That said, if you really feel strongly about this subject, which I haven''t heard of before, write your congressman and get all your friends to do the same.

Matatora:

While it may be a good cause, under no circumstances can I support your concept of emailing anything to everyone in your mailbox.

What a way to guarantee that they all get a huge new influx of spam (spreading their e-mail addresses).

I do not want to have my email address splayed across the web in hundreds of computers; and chastise anyone who does so. If that doesn''t work. I permanently block them.

This has been highly sucessfull. I rarely get spam on my new email addresses even after 2 years. Before then I was getting about 200 spams a day on each of the addresses.

Now if you want to write a personal email. No problem.

Perry, to sign this petition does NOT require an email address, just your name and zip, nor does it require you to provide other peoples'' email addresses.

Matatora, thank you for posting this, I signed!

I did too, and yes thank I have written letters to the congressman of all three states that I reside in during the year and their senators...but I am a firm believer that every little bit helps. And I imagine that is why your zip code goes in...so those in office can see how many who could vote for them feel this is an issue. JMO.

As someone who''s family has been affected by this disease, I thank you as well.

Thanks Matatora...I signed it....it can''t hurt if we try!

Good Job M!

A girlfriend of mine had her double masectomy 2 weeks ago, and she had to fight to get them to remove both breasts. They found more lumps, and she''s only 30! She ignored symptoms for several years thinking that she was too young to have breast cancer, but it''s most invasive in young women and she was diagnosed at Stage 4 which isn''t very hopeful.

I saw her on the weekend, and she''s going in for a brain scan this week because they''re worried that it''s spread. They found some shadowing on her sternum already and apparently it can go from breast to bone, to skin, to brain.

It''s extra heartbreaking because she was diagnosed 2 months after her wedding!

1 in 8 women get breast cancer! Get those Mammograms girls!
