I bought my wedding dress last April so I will have my dress two years in advance. I liked the dress because it looked like my dream dress I think retailed at 1,400 which is not in my current budget so I found a looklike for 400 at davids bridal. I really wanted a big princess looking dress and liked the Maggie(my dream dress) much more but couldnt afford it. I found it extremely affordable online and I am trying to make up my mind. It is a sample dress which doesnt bother me and I am at the point where I am not sure if I would be 100% happy with my old one. I really like the elegant detail of the Maggie and the pooftyness, train & I

Get a new one. It''s your wedding dress! I''m buying a new one because the one I bought just isn''t me.

Have you looked around on preownedweddingdresses.com or oncewed.com to see if anyone is selling or has recently sold your current dress? Just curious how much you might be able to get back on the dress you''ve already purchased to go towards your dream dress since budget seems to be a concern.

The Maggie one is beautiful, but it has a much bigger and longer train. And have you ever tried on the Maggie dress?

New dress is gorgeous! The first is okay too. I guess if your budget is a priority, the first is an excellent choice. However, if you''re worried about second guessing your choice, do the new one.

Thank you everyone for posting. I have found a store sample for less than 300 dollars so the budget wouldn''t really matter in this case. Its just I wasn''t sure if I should really should get another dress. I can''t stop staring at the maggie its so beautiful. I haven''t tried it on yet but I will very soon. I didn''t want to get ahead of myself if I decided I should stick to my first. I ran it by a friend and she thinks I am being crazy

I think the price is amazing, and I''d get there quick to try it on before it is gone! But I wouldn''t buy it without seeing the condition and trying it on. Even if you sell the other one for $200, you''d still only have $500 total invested.

IMHO, I can only find a few minor differences between the two, and not enough to justify the money. One is the lace color, two in the length of the train, and three is the shape of the pick ups are minimally different. I guess I might go ahead with trying it on, and see how different it really is on. Is the construction much better? Are the materials better quality? Etc... And then closely analyze the pros and cons between your options. Good luck!

i would imagine that the quality of the maggie is better, if so it may be worth the price difference. you can always ebay the david dress

Here is a front picture it is somewhat different the dress I have isn''t the best material and is very beaded instead of lace and the reason I love the maggie is the fullness of the skirt and the train I also think it looks more elegant.

Considering that you referred to your current dress as the "old dress," I'm guessing that you've pretty much already made up your mind! FWIW I agree that in pictures at least the MS is much better execution of the same idea, and the price certainly seems right. Get yourself over to that shop to try it on!

I know the differences aren''t that great, but I think the difference in the shape of the skirt makes a HUGE difference in the dress, and I have to say, I like the Maggie one much more. I would get it in a second at that price and then try to sell your first one.

You got your current dress at David''s? Could you return it? I don''t know much about their policies, but seeing as how they don''t special order anything, I would guess that it might be worth a shot.

Usually all sales are final at David''s if I recall correctly.

I agree, you''ve been dreaming about this dress! It''s in your price range...even if you could recoup $150 on the other dress, it sounds like it is what you''d want to do.

I would get it, the Maggie is soooo beautiful!

My experience: I had a lot of dress regret b/c my dress was quite expensive (for my mom, who kindly bought it for me) and not very beachy--I even considered changing it a week before the wedding--but it ALL went away on my wedding day! I was so happy I wore it, I felt like a princess--you should too!

Princess...
Ok, here's my honest opinion. I am not usually a fan of pick-up skirts... However, I believe there is a night and day difference between the structure of these two dresses, and for me, it mainly has to do with the actual skirt itself.

The Maggie, to me, isn't just a pick-up skirt, the skirt on that dress has it's own style. Many times I see a dress with a pick-up skirt, much liek your "old dress", and say, "Ohh, a pick-up skirt." However, the Maggie in that picture has so much to look at, it really draws your eye completely around the dress.

If the sample is still in great condition and fits you well, I would pick that dress up in a heart beat.

Still not a pick-up skirt person myself, but the Maggie in that picture is like a work of art!!

Ditto Mere. I think the DB is a copy of the Maggie, but not as well executed. The skirt makes ALL of the difference.

Thank you everyone for responding! I am going to try on the Maggie hopefully soon I am out of town this weekend and will try on as soon as I get back. I am so excited!

Just wanted to update everyone I BOUGHT IT TODAY! Also I got a offer on my Davids Bridal Dress. The Maggie is in excellent condition and I am so glad I change my mind it fits so much better and gives me a figure. For now these are the best pictures I have. It is in diamond white with light sliver lace.

the detailing, The veil is stark white can you even notice?

Love it so much!

so glad that you got the maggie...I''m not a fan of "reproductions" and I think the DB was that and not done 1/100 as well as the original. Meresal was right...the skirt of the maggie isn''t just a pick-up skirt, its a whole look unto itself! So glad that it worked out for you and that you got THE DRESS!

DB didn''t even come close this fits to make me look better and the side view (which I always dislike) make me look really good! as the db one make me delete the picture.

Thank You all for the great advice!
