The seller called them Mazarin cut, which I haven’t heard of before. Do any experts know what these are and about when they were cut?

PS. Hands are covered in glitter because I’m wearing “diamond dust” sunscreen. I call it Pricescope sunscreen and DH calls it stripper sunscreen :(

Not sure which it is but I love it regardless!

"The Mazarin cut has 17 facets on the crown. Yet another name for this cut is the double-cut brilliant because they have double the facets of the single cut diamond. And if double is good, then triple is even better. The Triple cut or Peruzzi brilliant cut is another adaptation. The triple cut has 33 facets on the crown"

Well, on first blush, I'd call them French cuts. They look much like my French cuts in this ring. Mine are recently cut however. But I'm not familiar with Mazarin and I've never seen a Peruzzi in person.

How pretty!! Whatever they’re called - they’re really lovely!! Is it a full eternity?

Stripper sunscreen

But I always thought mazarin was encompassed in the term French cut

Interesting to see the replies

Gorgeous stones and band!

I would love some of the vendors to give their answers. Maybe @diagem could help?

What do you have?

An absolute treasure!

No idea what they are but the profile picture gives me all the feels :kiss2:

They look like octagonal-tabled French cuts to me, but I confess I’m not sure I’d recognise a Mazarin cut if I fell over one!

My eyes are too old to tell from the photos, but online seems to suggest 9 crown facets for frenchies, 17 for Mazarin and 33 for peruzzi. I’m sure there’s variations though given all these antique beauties were hand cut!

Beautiful! Please tell us about your find. It’s fantastic.

How beautiful!

According to the charts that @lulu_ma, and looking at the tables on the stones, they look like Old Single Cuts, however, I suspect
they are a combination of cuts.

Are the corners square or are they clipped? I cant tell from looking at them in the setting.

@lulu_ma Thanks so much for the charts and wealth of information! This is super helpful. Never heard of a Pendeloque cut and now I need to see one in person :)

Thank you! I can see how Mazarin could be a subset of French cut.

Octagonal French cuts makes sense to me. Thanks for the break down of crown facets, very helpful info.

Thank you! It was a local find. Size 6 in plat.

There might be more than one answer.., here are some reading materials on the subject.

Thanks, tyty333. I think you and others are right and that it might be a combo of cuts. I’m traveling and don’t have my loupe with me (lesson learned, loupes are small so always pack one, ha). When I get home I’ll see if I can tell the corner shape, but it might be hard because of the prong placement.

I think they look like peruzzi to me, but I'm not an expert on these kinds of cuts. But omg they are GORGEOUS

No advice from me. Just here to say I love it!! I’ve been looking for something similar for a long time!

Congrats and enjoy!

Thank you so much! And good luck with your search. Finding the perfect piece is such a test of patience sometimes.

"Rigid with envy" - is that a thing? I sat bolt upright when I saw this ring, THE ring, the one I would choose over any other band. You and lovedogs are killin' it this week and it's such a treat. Thanks for finding it and sharing it with us.

I don't know what it is either, but I LOVE it!! :kiss2::kiss2:

(and lol to you and your husband's competing sunscreen descriptions  )

HOLY. MOLY. What lookers!!!!
Thank you!

This is such a pretty stack!
Thanks, I’m having fun trying it out with different bands.

Thanks, Sandy,K! And if you want to look like a PSer - or stripper ;-) - check out Unicorn Snot. I bought it because it’s vegan and stuck with it ‘cause like a good PSer I adore anything that sparkles.
