Hey all,

Looking for some advice on if this is within normal melee setting or not. I am having my ring sent back to WF to upgrade my diamond and am wondering if I should ask them if it’s possible to fix the melee gapping or if I’m being too picky. Thanks for the help.

Can you provide the link to your ering on their website? Melee can't just be moved without redoing the setting (from what I know... I'm no expert).

It was a custom ring. This is what the CAD looked like though. 5F2CFD10-AA34-49B1-B1B7-26DA04183AE5.png

To be honest, it looks pretty close to the CADs IMO. You might need to go with a hand forged designer to get the look you're going for.

I personally think it looks pretty.
See what others have to say.

Do you mean fix the look of melee gap of both your rings as a whole, or mean your ER compared to your WB?

Thanks for your response. I guess I just didn’t know if it was normal for those few diamonds to have the space between them and the other diamonds don’t. Appreciate your feedback.

Yes, the e-ring compared to the wedding band. The wedding band looks perfect IMO.

I’d ask. Yes.
how long have you had it?

Looks like it was designed that way. How long have you had the setting? It does look like the diamonds may have shifted a little in your er. Pave is more fussy in general.

I have had it about 7 years. It has always had gapping but at the time I didn’t know any better to question if it was normal or not.

About 7 years. It has always had the gapping there but I didn’t know any better back then to question it. I love how the band looks so hopefully they can fix it? Thanks for your reply. :)

Not doubting you, but at this point it’s moot, that it’s been this way all along.
ideally they’re fabbed at the same time. Not asking too much that pave look the same.
not always possible if not fabbed at same time by same bench person, or not having the er in hand when doing the wb.

I’d still ask for a quote to fix it, or redo if necessary.
Up to you if it’s worth it. i probably would, especially with upgrading the stone.

I do think the pave can be more delicate and there are pave that looks better. But, after 7years, I don’t think its fair to ask for any replacement without a charge, if its even possible. I think its not easy to make any change in Pave. I think, if you don’t like how it looks, you need a new ring, as its already 7yrs gone by. But, it doesn’t hurt to ask WF what can be done.

Thank you all for your quick replies. I wasn’t hoping for them to replace at no cost as I understand a lot of time has passed. I just didn’t know if this was normal or even worth asking WF about (ie me being picky). All the help is much appreciated.

Are you just talking about those 4 hole openings on your ering or are you talking about the pave on the whole set in general?

You didn't specify those 4 holes but if that's what you're talking about they may be able to put some additional white metal in those areas that would close up the holes. You would need to show them and be specific so they know what you're talking about.

Sometimes the "cure" is worse than the disease though.

Yes the 4 hole openings, sorry for not being more specific. I was thinking maybe they could just push down those prongs a little more to “fill in” the space. I agree, I wouldn’t want to do anything to mess with the look of the ring.
