Hello everyone,

We are looking at buying my wedding band and I wanted to find out more about this:
We are looking at either a 6mm or 7mm ring (milgrain, high polish, and without diamonds).

1. What are the standards to judge by?
I know about the difference between .900 and .950 platinum grades. What is the standard thickness of the ring or how much metal does a normal ring contain? I have seen websites show the weight in grams of the ring or the thickness of the ring and I am trying to figure out how to compare "apples to apples."

2. What is a "good" price for a ring of 6-7mm width?
I have found everything from $800-$1500.

3. What are the possible differences?

Thanks everybody,

RJB

Hi RJB,

I don''t know what standards should be used to judge men''s bands, but this one looks like like a good deal for the price to me. (This one is the same ring in comfort fit)

RJB,

Have you checked out any sites online? The site I would totally recommend is Blue Nile, that is where my FI purchased my ring and I absolutely love it! Not only do you get exactly what you want, but there''s no pressure and the price is right. If you go to Blue Nile''s site, there is a tab on the top that says EDUCATION and you can find out some information there. According to their website, you should to for something that is 95% platinum as opposed to 90%.

Thanks for the comments.

It seems as though the price average is around $800-$900.

I had already found the e-weddingbands site and those are the rings we were looking at. Good call! Thank you.

E-weddingbands seem to have the best prices around for platinum bands.
