Hi All,

Just finishing up with the final details of my e-ring, courtesy of Bill Scherlag (aka Capitol Bill), which I should be recieving in about a week or two. My question and/or conern is taking the ring out of the country(Cabo San Lucas). Here''s my situation, I''ve recently learned that my GF is planning a surprise trip for my bday to Mexico for a whole week. She does not know that i''ve learned of her plans and think that this would be the prime opportunity to ''pop the question''...Should i be concerned with traveling with the ring to my destination? My GF and i like to do lots of adventurous activities: scuba, parasailing, hiking, etc. Since she''s not used to wearing an e-ring, should i just leave it in the room or the resort safe? Since it will be a short turn around time between getting the ring and leaving for the trip, should i get insurance on the ring asap? Or am i just really paranoid becase i''ve never done this before either??? i know lots of people have had these questions when going or planning an occasion such as this, I''m just looking for freindly suggestions or tips to follow.

Thank You for your input....

I wouldn''t hesitate at the least, to get insurance on it. Jeweler''s Mutual is who I used (I''m younger, and don''t have my own house yet - so no accessory home owner''s jewelry policy). All you have to have is an appraisal, and have it faxed to them. Then, in about one day, you will have a confirmation that you are insured. Total turn around was about 1 maybe 2 days for me, and it was easy and quick.

Have fun in Mexico!

I agree, get the insurance right away!
When I first got my ring, I immediately started having nightmares about losing or damaging it.

Thankfully, FI had already gotten it insured. Otherwise, I would have been even more worried!

For her peace of mind as well as yours, get that baby insured ASAP!
And best of luck on the trip and the proposal.

Thank you for your suggestions...The boards have some great info on insurance coverage, i''ll have to do some more reading up...
