So if a standard hole punch is 1/4 inch how many mm is that. I tried measuring it and it looks almost like 7mm but it''s DEF smaller than a 7mm stone I have.

Is is 6mm or 6.5mm???? My eyes just can''t tell.

I''m asking because I need to check mm size for a stone and I don''t have any 6mm stones. Well you knew that this would be colored stone related right!!?? THANKS

THANKS!

So the fact that my eyes can't see the .35 mm difference is OK LOL

So I'm going to call a hole punch 6mm for my gem shopping size search! The hole punch I'm currently wearing seems so so much smaller than a 7mm stone I have!! Must be a .8mm difference and it's really visible. I think 6mm is my minimum for a stand alone stone, non stacker.

Yes today I'm wearing a hole punch on my finger -- only while at home and no one will ever know. Well except all of PS!! But hopefully PSers understand my madness.

According to my digital calipers, Kismet''s right! And Stone Hunter, I think it''s so cute that you''re using hole punches as a guage - very resourceful!

Why thank you! I just need to really see the size before buying. And lately I''ve seen some stones that I''ve really liked but they''ve just been too small. I''m trying to save my money for the right stone.

Funny since I own several rings with smaller stones, but it''s a design thing. Today''s RHR is about 7mm long EC and skinny (but I don''t know the mm). It''s set E/W and with tiny tiny diamonds on each end. The setting really suits the stone. The stone is small but I still love it on my hand. BUT I won''t buy any loose stones that small again...probably.

At the same time my 7mm round looks very large on my hand. It is a vibrant sparkly orange though. So strong color does make a stone seem larger.

SH- what a great idea hole punching for size reference
